Possible issue with Clubman order?

Hello All,

After months of debate and careful consideration, I finally decided to put in an order for Mini Cooper Clubman last week.

I logged onto the "Owners Club" to track the status of my order. All of the options I requested were shown in the order details online, except one: the bluetooth / ipod adapter option.

When I reviewed the order statement that was given to me at the dealership, the bluetooth / ipod adapter option is clearly listed and calculated in the total cost. However, there is no "code" associated with it. All the other options I requested have codes listed next to them.

May the bluetooth/ ipod adapter option I requested be left out of my order because no code was entered into the system by the dealer? Or is this something I shouldn't worry about?

The person I've been working with is out of town till Monday but she did respond via her Blackberry that she would forward the message to her sales manager. It's only been a few hours or so, so I will give them till tomorrow to respond before I call the dealer myself.

Thanks!

Perhaps it is a dealer installed option? I know I have it on my upcoming Clubman. In reviewing my statement from my MA, there are no codes at all. Try not to worry too much - chances are your Clubman won't go into production that fast. I'm sure it will all be AOK.

P.S. Just checked mine via the View Source of the Owner's Lounge and my iPod/Bluetooth is not listed on there either. I am guessing that I'm correct about the dealership's installation.

The Bluetooth USB/iPod adaptor is absolutely and definitely a factory installed, NOT dealer installed option (the stand-alone iPod adaptor is dealer installed). Mine was also not listed in the owner's lounge, but dealer assured me that it was in the order, and later on the car. I'll see for myself this weekend. If your MA isn't at the dealer ship any other sales person can check the computer for you.

While I know that Mini owners seem to like (obsessively) checking on the progress of production and transportation, personally I found the owner's lounge to be many days out of date or inaccurate and completely useless for information. My MA just emails me when status changes.

The owner's lounge is not the best way to keep tabs on the progress of your car. I often used to call ASK MINI or be in contact with my MA.

The iPod adaptor is a dealer install. I think what you doing is right in calling up people and making sure all details are set straight.

Ahchoo01, To give you some comfort (pun intended), the "Comfort Bluetooth and USB/Ipod adapter (6NE)" is included in the "Convenience Package". So if you've got the Convenience Package, you should have that included in the factory install. If you didn't order the Convenience Package, but you wanted the Bluetooth/Ipod option, then you might have some anxious moments until you hear from the dealership, since the Owners Lounge is not reliable, complete or timely. It's a good idea but MiniUSA executes it poorly. Hopefully they will get their act together on that. I think it causes more anxiety than it adds in PR. Hope this helps.

Convienence package, yes!... BTW, if you ordered bluetooth, you have no need for the Ipod adapter... it comes with the USB, which comes with a nifty little plig for the ipod. Whala.. instant ipod integration without extra installation charges!

Don't worry -- that's exactly my experience. The Bluetooth/iPod adapter listed on our order sheet didn't show up in the OL tracking system but did come on the car. And it works great. I'm glad I got it.
That wrong OL listing caused me a lot of needless concern, so don't repeat my mistake. I'm sure you'll have it in your car, too.

I tried out my 'convenience' package iPod/bluetooth -- I connected the iPod to the adapter end and the pointed part into the headphone hole on the iPod - so it was hooked up two ways. Turned the hifi to the iPod icon, the audible list came up - we selected our book to hear and then.........NOTHING! What did I do wrong? Volume was turned up............nothing. Help! I just don't know what to try next - probably something really simple but I missed that really simple step. Thanks folks

If I undersand you correctly you have the USB/iPod adapter from the factory. In that case you should only connect the dock connector to the iPod and the USB and the other plug to the dash.

I decided not to even use my iPod. I've got a USB stick instead... much cheaper, and I can use the aux. port for my XM radio now.

I'm being "forced" to pick up my Clubman this weekend (haven't sold the old car yet). My wife got her MCS a couple of weeks ago and the ipod and phone hookup is great. She has both an Iphone with her "tunes" and her work phone which is just bluetoothed. Shw has figured out how to work them and all she does is turn the **** on the radio dial and hit the phone button on the steering when and she talks. It is great when she calls on her way home from work at night and I can hear the turn signals when she turns. She is much safer with "no hands" and I fell that if there is a problem she can safely use her phne while driving. N.J. has has now totally banned hand held calls when drivning

The iPod Integration puts the iPod in the secret compartment so it is hidden from anyone checking out your car when parked.

The USB method of connecting an iPod requires a special Y connector that connects it to both the USB port and the AUX port. This means you can't use the AUX for anything else, such as a third-party GPS, Sirius, etc. and you have to find a place for the iPod somewhere around the console.

There have been reports that the sound is better from the iPod Integration than through the AUX, but take that as an unsubstantiated report rather than fact.
