Trim shock tower metal for more camber?

Hi guys,

The metal at the top of the shock towers is interfering with my camber adjustment; even with coilovers, i can't get more than -2 deg. Is it ok to, and has anyone ever, trimmed back the metal to allow for more adjustment?

Thanks,
Elie

sure. I did this. Use a circle template and scribe an eccentric circle with a sharpy. Protect your winshiled and any other parts from molten pieces of metal being trown off a grinder...you should remove the struts, but if you can't or don't want to, use a plumber's rag - will not burn - to protect the top of the struts. Just be sure the grinder doesn't grab this cloth.

The molten pieces of metal will pit your windshield if you do not protect it.

Use an acid etching primer and then colored match your paint - done! figure a couple of hours.

i have -3.1 both sides with h-sport plates,no problem, the only trimming i done was on the side of the subframe down tubes,a little grinding on the edges to clear the steering knuckle,DO NOT GRIND THE WELD!

I elongated my strut tower holes too; works great and costs essentially nothing but time. Just be sparing with your hole elongation; the more material you remove the weaker the strut tower will get.

I got my suspension specialist to do this for me, cost me about US$30.

I'm running -2.5 deg front instead of my previous -2.

Thanks for all the help guys
