2007 MCS Hardtop - Supercharged or Turbo?

The local dealer just sent me the specs on a 2007 MCS. The specs show ENGINE-1.6L DOHC SPRCHRGD. Is this just a mistake, or could a 2007 have a supercharged engine? This is a hardtop and a 2007.

Thanks!

It is my understanding that if it is an R56, it is turbocharged, if it is an R53, it is supercharged. Have your dealer confirm.

Can a 2007 be a R53? Or are all 2007 hardtops R56's.

That's a really loaded question. My two cents... I love the new turbo motor, it's quick, efficient, and so far, quite reliable. But on the supercharged side, you get that whine, lots of tuneability, and a nod to the classic Minis. Every MINI enthusiast will probably give you a different answer. The best way to make a decision is to test drive the R53 and R56 MINIs back to back, and then decide what you like!

Not yet. Whenever the R56 turns into the convertible it will have the "Prince" engines. For 2008, the Cabrios maintain the Tritec engines as they are still R52 chassis.

The turbo gets better fuel economy than the supercharged MINI, it is also faster and more powerful.
