How to drop weight out of my S?

So while my car's vacationing in the Atlantic all I can think about is how to mod it. What else is new?

Now that I know what parts I want to add to make it faster...
What parts can I remove to make it faster?

This will be my daily driver so I'm not looking to drop the AC unit or anything too insane.

Has anyone else lightened theirs up at all and weighed the items?

Are the rear seats easy to remove? What do they weigh?
Light weight battery?
Runflats vs real tires weight savings?
What else is there?

I got my old car to under 3000lbs with over 600hp.

My goal with this thing is 300hp and 2500lbs w/my 150lb ***.

Help!

Removing the rear seats is probably fastest & easiest ,check out Modifications Interior / Exterior post - Rear Seat Delete

Yes, you can remove the rear seat. I haven't weighed them, but they are not terribly heavy.

What wheels are you getting? The Crown Spoke and Flame Spoke weigh 22.5 lbs. each. New wheels can drop the unsprung weight -- more effective than reducing sprung weight. I went with CenterLine RPM that are less than 16 lbs. each.

You will only drop a couple lbs. on each wheel going from runflats to non-runflats. The main benefit from changing is softer ride, less road noise, and possibly better handling.

Actually I haven't seen that movie since it came out. I hated it instantly. The beginning scene was such cheese and it made the entire film so predicable. Mini vs Helicopter? Stooooops.

Although I must admit I may rent it again now that I've got Mini on the brain.

Hopefully the remake... I liked that one MUCH better than the 1969 (or was it '68) version.

I'm getting Bridge Spoke 16" w/ all seasons for the winter.

By summer I plan on getting black Ultraleggaras or something along those lines with a lighter tire. On my old car going from runflats to pilot sports saved nearly 10lbs a wheel. Then again those were 325's

If you had to guess how much did the rear seats weigh?

My woman's a registered dietician so the pounds per power ratio wont be too disrupted.

Why is it called the Prince engine?

Alta was posting up graphs with ~260whp. Factoring in drivetrain loss that's ~300 crank hp.

Well, most of the roof is glass, and that stuff is heavy. Not only that, but it is at the top of the car, raising the center of gravity.

You might want to check out the thread on sunroof delete in 1st Gen Mods.

I have heard reports that the sunroof adds almost 300lbs!!! This comes from the motor and is working assembly, the glass, and the added supports to strengthen the top of the car. The S without a sunroof weights in somewhere in the 2300lbs range without a driver.

I think it's a fun movie. The most gut-wrenching moment though, was when The Napster dropped the Ducati. Ouch! (I had a 748 at the time).

Well I don't feel as bad now. I was thinking that was 300lbs on top of the 2600lbs.

The sunroof will stay as is. I'm looking for other ways of removing weight.

Just leave your fat friends on the curb. That'll do it and you'll probably feel the weight loss more than changing out the battery and loosing the rear seat. Oy! You weight weenie folks really make me laugh.

When dealing with 1.6 litres of power weight should be on everyone's mind.

Wha??? I am curious about these reports... source? 300 lbs. seems a teeny - tiny bit high IMHO.

The sunroof does not weigh 300lbs. Think about it, folks.

It probably adds about 50lbs.

The 2 panes of glass alone weight at least 60lbs. Plus the motor, assembly, bracing in the roof, the shades, the extra rubber water seals, the hinge assemblies....... Think about it, that has to weigh a ton.

I didn't come up with the almost 300lbs, I was told that by a Mini tech.
