R56 NAV Manual

Does anyone know where I can get a PDF version of the R56's NAV manual? I've been looking around and can't seem to find one. MotoringFile just has the first generation's manual.

While I'm at it, is there an R56 owner's manual newer than the one posted on MotoringFile? That one is from 11/06...and maybe there have been some updates since then.

I guess my OCD is kicking in here 'cause my MINI isn't even scheduled for production yet!

I just got mine this week - there's no date in the manual, just says '2007' on inner page before table of contents. There doesn't seem to be a separate NAV manual - it's covered in the regular manual.

It looks like the manual posted on MotoringFile is outdated since it doesn't list the NAV system, which makes sense since the NAV system wasn't available until Feb or March of this year and the posted version is from November of '06.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to continue waiting.

Actually, there's a version of the owner's manual for nav cars and a separate version for non-nav cars.

Just like pastabatman, we just received our R56 with nav and the owner's manual only contains information pertinent to the nav cars (i.e. there isn't anything at all in it about the non-nav car's radio, speedo, etc.).

I'd like to help you out with the manual, but it's huge and thus is way to big for me to scan and post. Sorry.

The manual on MotoringFile is simply a direct link to the PDF on the MINIUSA Owner's Lounge. Realistically I doubt MINIUSA would post an updated 2007 manual. However, a 2008 manual will be posted eventually, and it should include information applicable to late 2007 builds.

Is there no way to access an electronic version of this manual, then?

Thanks,

Not yet that I know of- my delivery is Saturday morning though, I don't mind scanning anything that's relevant once I've got it in hand.

(You might have to wait until Sunday )

Further NAM reading indicates that the manual is pretty sparse, and use of the NAV system is learned on the fly. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing a scanned version of what they do give you, if it isn't a bother. Thanks for the offer!

And conga-rats on the pending delivery!!

I'll upload a scanned version of the NAV section of the manual as soon as I can remote connect to my home PC. I also have the voice command shortcut section scanned as a PDF document. You can find it attached to this below.

Bah...the file size is too large to attach. It is about 11 Mb and the max PDF file size is 4.88 Mb.

I'd be happy to email to anyone who PMs me their email address.

Thanks from me too! I'd been looking around for one and was hoping to have my reading done before pickup.

I don't understand???

Our week 34 built R56's Owner's Manual doesn't have a "nav section". The ENTIRE manual is devoted to the nav system and the way that it interacts with the whole car. Thus, you'd need to scan the entire manual (which is quite large) in order to fully understand the nav system.

True, the screen & joystick referred to as 'nav' are an interface to much more than navigation. But there is a chapter devoted strictly to the navigation function.

Correct, what I have scanned is the "chapter" called Navigation. It is 22 pages and the scanned file size is 11 Mb. It is specific to the using the NAV system as a NAV system. But yes you are correct, the system is very integrated with the vehicle. That is why the whole users manual is different if you have the NAV.

I think some of you that I sent the manuals to may be having issues with the attachment file size. I've uploaded the manuals to an online storage space. Please look at this thread to find the download links.

Thanks SimpsonGI--this is a great window into what I'll be messing around with on my drive back from Rasmussen next month!
