Rear suspension knock after M7 spring install

I just put some M7 springs on my 02 mcs and now theres a very annoying knock/clunk noise coming from the rear suspension. Everything else is standard except some 17x7 wheels(42offset 215/40r17 tyres). If the road is perfectly smooth its fine, but basically over any bump it just clunks and knocks around as if struts are loose but i have tightened everything upadn the car still handles fine. Any ideas? The tyres seem to be rubbing a little but it just doesn't sound like a rubbing noise.

check your sway bar end links. When I did mine (springs and rear sway bar at the same time) they were tight to start but loosened up after a day or so. I finally ended up using some lock-tite on the threads and that kept it from loosening up.

If I had to guess it would be because the top nut on the strut is loose or needs to be tighten down a couple more threads. This has happen to me before.

the topnut should be all the way down until it doesn't turn anymore....and don't use an impact gun to do this unless you plan on having some spare struts ready

Thanks for that. re tightened it all down and lubed it all and noise all gone. Just have a small vibration in the front on acceleration. not sure if its loose strut top nut or bad wheel alignment.(ie too much toe out), or that cv wearing thing people have mentioned.

what do you mean by this? Would an impact gun ruin the bolts?

that's for the mounting nuts. the center nut comes to a full stop.....hard to torque something that way and besides, nobody should be using an impact on anything but the lower bolts

Is there a write up to install suspension?

I have a slight click from the left rear on rough roads and as you slalom. I was thinking it was top of rear shock mount.

PO installed bilstein sports and I bet something is loose.

Thanks!

DUH...Found a great photo montage of the whole process moments after posting. Now I know what I am doing this weekend!!!
