In Top 10 "Mean Cars" list:

Amoungst the 'gas guzzling' Lamborghini, Bugatti, etc. in the Top 10 Mean Cars is the new JCW MINI Cooper!
Go figure.

That's the Mini Challenge car , but still not a gas guzzler or a big smog producer. what the hell were they thinking ? Some one needs to review what Mini Coopers are and can do. What a Dork that writer is.

I'm not sure what he means by "mean." The only "mean" car I know of is the Batmobile!!!

WTF is that journalist smoking? MINIs are about as far from "mean" as you can get, lol.

P.S. Are those the real figures for the Challenge Cup Car? For $70k I expected more.

Well, that's what happens when people complain when a MINI is called 'cute', etc. Careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

What I am wondering today is why my MCS's rear end seem so high. I can crawl under the rear end without lifting the car!

Still looks cute to me.

Cmon, its sitting with a Scuderia, 5.5 lbs/hp ratio, a DBS and a Widowmaker

This gotta be a joke. It's also not street legal while the others are. This is too funny.

Funny? Yes.
Out of place? Absolutely. Though certainly cool and somewhat exclusive, which is partially what that lineup was about...

But now, I'll bet a case of beer that Sabine Schmitz in the MINI could take Chows in the Widowmaker on the Ring...

I guess that article was implying that the MCS JCW was bad for the environment. I'd wager that even with the engine mods, the mini gets better gas mileage than your average SUV let alone one of those sexy racing beasts.

Oh well.....

The ONLY line in the article that wasn't part of an actual car review was:
They may not be good for the environment, but they sure are fun.
Notice it didn't say they ARE bad for the environment... "may be" bad, but "sure are" fun...

I think this article was really just the bookend to the "Green Cars" writeup, where all of the cars were (yawn) focused on whatever it takes to make them "greener"...

In contrast, the cars listed in the "Mean" article, including the MINI Challenge car, are about whatever it takes to make them fast and fun. The fact that MINI can do this while still making it "greener" than any of the others (albeit, also considerably SLOWER than the others) is a good thing.

But, compared to grandma's beetle, the Challenge car *IS* "mean".

Walter Roehrl is my surrogate and he just pulled a 7:31 Yogi Bear could run faster around the Ring than me driving a F1 car.
