Had that happen on an old Ford Bronco but I was unaware of it. It shorted out the lighter, which I only used as an occasional electical outlet. The cruise control was on the same circuit, so it died. You can guess what happened when I went to trouble shoot and tried to put another fuse in! I actully discovered the coin by accident. Thought I'd lost cruise control for good.

Pull the fuse FIRST, then use whatever means necessary to get the penny out

that happened to my freinds old cutlass in high school- it shorted out every thing when we started the car- radio, lights, and ocasionally we would have to jump the car- we replaced the fuse about every 2 days- then after about 2 or 3 months one of us relized there was a penny... in the cig lighter... ah hahahahahha! one of our great adventures in that old tug boat -
ah the good ol days....sigh...
by the way i used a ball piont pen...if your lucky you can poke one side and the other will rotate up... then just flip it out... and ductape overthe lighter so it doesnt happen again... : )

Pick up the MINI and hold it upside down . . . coin will fall out after a couple of shakes.

Your mission if you choose to accept it.

By far the best answer! That made my day. I think my husband was about to do that infact

The superglue and wooden stick worked like a charm.
No Word Yet if it shorted out my lighter. I, too use it as an electrical outlet for my phone.

How it got in there is anyones guess. My change goes in the cup holder behind my armrest. My Guess is that it got dropped in there by a careless passenger. I honestly didn't think it would come out with the glue trick. I thought that I wasn't getting my phone charger in right so I push kinda hard - which I have to do with this particular phone charger without the penny anyway. I thought MAN it has got to be REALLY stuck now!

I just might have to turn the car over

Hubby thought he would pop the lighter out and turn it upsidedown to get the penny out but that proved too difficult of a position for him to hold with his sciatica so after unplugging the lighter he vaulted himself out of the car in a way that I never thought possible and spoke words - no wife should ever have to hear

It was too hot to monkey with plugging it back in last night.

So here is the next dumb question - Shame on me for askin it.
Where are the fuses

OMG Did I say that outloud.
Please don't tell me to read the manual.
Just give up the goods and forgive me for being lazy about it.

Beside your left foot. Open that little door.

Then, since you won't read the manual - just start randomly unplugging them and mixing them up until everything works.

You're Good!~

SNAP
Alright Alright I will read the dang manual Already!
I thought I could cheat and just look at them and KNOW - VISUALIZE a bad fuse.

I thought it would be much more entertaining to just tell my husband where the fuse box was and let him deal with the rest.

I guess I can't go on being a poser anymore and now will just have to dive into the mechanical side of my car. I know I hafta just do it.
It is just - For Me - I have to learn everything from the basics, on.
And being in nursing school - well my study load is big enough.

Thanks for the tip.

I was following a petite female friend of mine who was driving her boyfriend's dually pickup, couldn't resist and called her on her cellphone to tell her, yes, that the duallie DID make her butt look big!

Is that off topic?
