uneven drop, sometimes, on h-sport springs

are h-sport springs sensitive to weight? after a drive today the rear passenger corner was higher than the rest of the car... how much higher? well it was a three fingers gap between the fender and tire while the driver's side has two. the three finger gap is what i had stock. it settles back evenly to two finger gap after parked for a while, but this happenend before with the same corner only it was lower than the rest. the uneven drop only happens on the rear, i drive by myself most of the time with the back seats removed, and my friend has noticed it "sagging" when he follows me too. what is up with this?

I have never noticed a problem with my H-sports. makes me wonder about the intsall and maybe if something is wrong with the damper....maybe the damper is damaged and sticking, not allowing the car to settle down?

...progressive rate springs are more sensitive to load than linear rate springs - load being your weight. Also, never use the fenders as a measuring benchmark; front fenders are used to 'take up' build tolerances. The rear fenders are typically much more accurate as these are part of the uni-body. But, the plastic fender flairs are not to be trusted.

In the rear, measure from any of the three bolts that are used to adjust toe on the rear trailing arm. Up front, use the inner ball joint - front part of the control arm.

And, while measuring, you can use the outter ball joint up front and the lower rear damper bolt to measure across the car - an X pattern - to determine squareness.

Another reason and this is common, some cars do not have a straight body/frame and you will only notice this when you lower your car.

My car did not drop evenly on H-Sports either. Everything seems to be done correctly, so I still don't know what the deal is. The passenger side is at least a 1/4 in higher than the driver's.

Wouldn't the car be handling like crap if that was the case? It handles wonderfully :-)

not necessarily, but it can tilt your. if it is bent, just get adjustable endlinks.

thanks meb, trace, and kenchen, i'll try to see whats up when i get under the car. i don't know about the whole car being bent, the car is pretty stiff and i never saw air time or road imperfections at unapproachable speeds. apparently i'm not alone here, i'll try to report my findings asap.

everything looks ok when i quickly climbed under the car the other day, didn't have much time to really get a good look... (i had stuff to do on my day off and i'm working until sometime next week). the springs being sensitve to load is making sense to me but on rear passenger corner even i drive by myself??? did you find anything thumper? kinda annoying to see my car driving lope sided down the street...

Nope, to be honest I haven't really checked. I really don't think my sway bar is bent though, I have no idea how that'd even happen.

When I had my car aligned the other week I had the tech (who installed the h sport springs and konis) check to make sure everything is sitting right and such, and everything is fine. He noticed how its lower on the drive side as well, we couldn't come up with anything though. I'm thinking it's just an H-sport quirk. Doesn't bother me as long as the car keeps handling as amazing as it does right now . Ugh if I could just get rid of these damn Kumho SPT's I could be having a lot more fun .

I hate to bring an old dead thread back, but I've figured out why my car was not sitting evenly. It was due to my one ball exhaust!! I now have a proper, aftermarket exhaust (Invidia) and the car sits perfectly even on both sides.

Just wanted to share in case anyone elses car wasn't sitting evenly and they happen to have a One-Ball exhaust.

Bummer! Anyone else have this issue with H-Sports and the one ball? I was just about to do the exact same thing.
Thanks,
Jason

funny that happens, the R50 has a "one ball" type of exhaust....as there is only one side. Granted the spare in on the 50, but it is a bit more center mounted, and not as far out as the exhaust on a 53.

Glad it settled out, but seems strange to me, and my h-sports were pretty much dead even in the back, although they seemed to settle over the years a bit.

Just installed the m7 springs and my car is doing the same thing. It is sitting about 1/4" higher on the rear passenger side. All the other wheels look fine to me. AAARRRGGHHH.

That sux. You should go on realoem.com and take a look at how the shock is put back together and everything else to make sure you have everything right.
