New Mini Cabrio owner
Hello everyone, my wife and I just bought a Laser Blue 2007 Mini Cooper S Convertible yesterday with the following packages: premium, sport & cold weather. We drove 120 miles to pick it up. We really glad that we went with the Mini instead of VW Eos. VW Eos is very nice too with the hardtop convertible, 2.0t turbo but it just doesn't have the personality that the Mini has.
I have a question about the dashboard, the two outside pieces stick out about quarter of an inch from the center piece. Here is a couple of pictures, is it suppose to be like this?
Oh, and a picture of our car,

Oh, and a picture of our car,
Congratulations and Welcome! Nice looking car!
Unfortunately, your dash should NOT be like that - my dash pieces are nice and even across all three - I just walked out and checked to be sure...
That's really odd - hard to believe it would have left the factory like that, and I don't know why anyone would have had it apart. It's fairly straightforward to remove the dash cover and the dash trim pieces to see if they just need to snap in better or whatever - or you can make a trip back to the dealer...
Imagox' post here includes some good instructions for removing the dash cover and trim if you want to try it yourself...

Welcome to the cabrio NAMily!!
Sweet looking MINI
Blimey is right, as usual - something is up with your dash. It definitely should not look that way. Taking it apart and putting it back together is not difficult at all if you are slightly mechanically inclined - or if you've had practice with a Mr. Potato Head.
MINIs are very much "snap on, snap off" - ish. It's what makes mods and you-ification so much fun.
Cheers to many MINI miles of motoring smiles.

Coming from a recent new Mini Cabriolet purchaser such as myself, (
) I just want to congratulate you on a very fine purchase, indeed!! Hope you get the issue of your dash alignment resolved successfully, and let us know how it turns out.

Welcome . . . mine is hyper blue.
Do you have a closer dealer than where you bought your MINI?
I've just returned from Alaska where I saw a few MINIs, apparently with the Alaska Highway between them and the dealer.
Good luck with the dash issue.

Fine purchase and nice colors. Welcome to the world of 'topless' motoring!
Enjoy the experience! Its almost too hot here in Indiana by this time of year for the top to be down, but I really like the morning and evening rides!

As an Indianapolis driver, who only puts the top up in "significant" rainfall and when the temp goes below 38 (...maybe), you have be reported to 1-888-DO NOT CLOSE as a potential offender.
I tried to take the dashboard apart but I couldn't get them loose and I was afraid to break anything. So I took the car to the dealer to have them take a look at it (there is a dealer about 20 miles from our house). It only took the tech 2 seconds to pop the pieces back in. Everything looks fine now. My wife and I are in our late 30's but we feel like teenagers when we are in the Mini. We've been cruising around town with the top down in the evenings. It has brought us a lot of joy. Everytime I look at it, it just brings a smile to my face. Thanks everybody for the warm welcome. Everyone has been so kind and helpful. This is a such wonderful community.
Congrats on your new baby! The FIRST Laser Blue Cabrio I have seen!!! VERY nice indeed! Enjoy it. Isn't it nice to feel like a teenager again (with all the experience tho!!) in a nice new car.
You definetly need to post some more pics!

We had our hearts set on the Chili Red when we first started looking at the Mini but then I came across some pictures of the Laser Blue. And we just fell in love with that color. It's not too dark, it's not too light, it's just right. And it's a such fun color to go with a such fun car. Perfert.
