Anyone regret their color choice after purchase?

I'm ready to buy my first Mini but am 100% puzzled on which color to choose. They look great in every color and combo.

I'm a bit of a tight wad though and am disappointed that nearly every color costs an extra $450. Is that common in European cars? I've sorta decided that if I get one of the colors other than white, yellow, or red that I will forfeit an option like xenons or the upgraded stereo.

That was one of my toughest decisions when I made my choices. I ended up with my first choice which is PW/B and could not be happier! One thing I did realize is that if there is an option that you really want....dont skimp!

Dont dump the Xenons! They are awesome.

Close your eyes. Picture in your head a MINI going down the highway. As you come up behind it you notice how sleek and shiney it is. As you pass it, you look and see iif it has bonnet stripes and whether the mirrors are in contrast colors. You think "that was a really nice MINI".

Unless somebody stole it, that wasn't your MINI. Pick a different color!

The extra cost only hurts when you spec the car and write the check/sign the papers. Adding items later or skimping on a desirable option stays with you a long time. Get what you want form the factory and you will be happy during the whole ownership experience. All that said--I have a no cost color---cr/white and its my second MINI in that combo.
A friend of mine just ordered CR/black w/ sport stipes and it looked grt.

So Jemo, do you have this selection narrowed down at all? Will a non-metallic work?? Looking at one of the silvers??? MCS or Cooper?

Hi Gocart,

Definitely, a MCS.

Well, if it weren't $450 extra.....at times I like the silver, the grey looks great too, but I also like that aqua-shade of blue. Of the non-metallic colors, I kinda like the red but it's pretty common and I've never owned a red car and am afraid I'd get tired of it. Yellow is probably my least fave of all. The pepper white is nice (and free).

Are you going to the parade in Double Oak today?

Jeff

I love my Dark Silver. While not as flashy as some of the other colors (which I liked) its subtle and I dont regret getting it a bit.

Be a rebel. get BRG. But seriously, one colour should shout "this is the one you want"

Was in the same pickle... Wife's car, she selected Oxygen Blue and didn't mind that is wasn't possible for a S (my choice).
I took her to the dealer for ordering and she liked the Pepperwhite suddenly.
Fine, I liked it too. But she liked it on the cabrio they had there. So turned a fair equiped MC into a very good equiped MCC and the price tag from 24k to 31k... You might be able to restrain yourself but all I'm saying... sometimes $450 for a different color is the least of your financial issues

pepper white w/ blk stipes is very nice. Take a look at the PW w/ sport stripes. One is sitting on my dealer's showroom floor. Very nice.

CR is common BUT if you do the black mirrors and roof, its not. Interesting--around here CR not common among R56s like the R50/r53s. DS is very popular --I prefer it w/ white top/mirrors.

Don't worry about the extra $450 (it was only $400 in 03) You are going to spend way more than that on mods when the car arrives. You will probably spend that on detailing stuff alone

But you can get red, save the $450, have the coolest color and the fastest

+1

I LOVE all the fun colors, yellow and black with back stripes, Red and white with white stripes, blue and white ...... BUT, I'm a professional, and need to look a little more conservative. Picked it up yesterday and love it, very classy looking, and have no regrets.

The point is, whatever color you get, will be a GREAT color!!!

Metallic colors are always more money than non-metallics in many cars. They cost more so they charge you more.

asodestrom is correct, you gonna continue to spend your money later no matter what...
But for the color... make no compromises there !
I can only imagine to open the garage in the morning and the first thought would be "I should have spent the money for color xxx" ...

If you are worried about an extra $450 added to the price of a $20K + car, you are more than a "bit of a tight wad." You would probably be much happier looking at the Accord or Camry

Life Is Short

MCS = FUN

Pick a color and don't look back

You only live once

Originally I thought I would be conservative and go with a more sedate color....but when I went to build my car, I have always been drawn to the turquoise/blue minis...so I went for it an ordered the Laser Blue. It's an amazing color (looks dark in some situations and light during others). It stands out and I absolutely love it.

Options on minis are like the options list when you're building a house. You can get overwhelmed since there are so many decisions. Decide what the top 3-4 are and make sure you get those...the rest are nice if you have the budget, but won't be dealbreakers if you don't get them.

Best of luck...it's a fabulous ride!

Like HollyGolightly, I was originally pondering a Pepper White, Sparkling or Dark Silver MCS reflecting my more sophisticated, mature demeanor and semi-conservative side . So I went with Laser Blue with white all around!

I was originally contemplating two opposites: (1) Dark, mysterious, mean and (2) fun, bright, different. I ended up going the second route and got Lightning Blue. I think mainly to enhance the MINI's uniqueness and because I had a string of more subdued luxury cars (although even those were in the less conservative colors, except for my ML 420, which was black). I don't regret my color choices, although I often admire other combinations I see on the road.

We got a car off the lot (they had a LOT of them) and it came down to what options we liked best. My husband preferred the yellow, I preferred the oxygen blue, but we both would have been happy with almost any color combo, really. But we're quite pleased with our little sunny yellow/white baby (no stripes). We could live without the yellow color line inside, but it definitely makes it interesting!

While I was considering my color choice, I was more inclined to the brighter color. Mellow Yellow was my first choice. Mine is a mellow yellow with black roof top along with the yellow color line inside. I cannot be more than happier. Plus, since the car itself is small, I would rather be noticable on the road, especially, on the freeway.

ever since i wanted a mini i've always wanted the darker blue color since my favorite colors is blue and black (i've had 3 black cars already didn't want another one) so i ordered the lighning blue with black top. so i have both of my favorite colors on my car. another good thing about the lightning blue is it will be the first dark blue mini that i know of. i live in a kinda small town (55,778+ pop.) and there is about 8-10 minis that i know of. out of the ten the colors are yellow, green (2), gray, light blue, red (2) and black, so my mini will be different than everyone elses.

Not one bit.. I knew what I wanted, and I was more than willing to pay the extra bucks to get it.

Heck, the $450 for paint was painless compared to the $1900(!) for Redwood Lounge seats.

My first Mini was hyper blue, white roof, white wheels. It was a happy Mini. The one I am getting is black body, black roof, black team dynamic rims, black aero kit.. I think I saw Pirates of the Carribean one too may times..

"But why is the rum gone?"

I think everyone went through this ordering their Mini... But I'm with Soul Embrace on the color, I wasn't sold until I saw the Lightning Blue offset with the black roof and stripes, and THEN the decision was made. Definitely consider the roof n' stripes when looking at overall color, they're just as important!

That said, it was only after I ordered mine that I saw a photo of all black, with chrome mirrors and trim. That was real sharp too.
