What I did is go to a rally at the Scottsdale dealership and look at about 50 cars (mostly R53s of course, there were a few new ones). That gave me an idea as to what color I wanted and even a better idea of what wheels and interior I wanted. I think seeing the wheels on the car helps a lot. And the configurator shots of the interiors don't look like what you will get IMO. Look at the cars themselves is my recommendation. I bought mine the next day.

I think every....okay most.......future MINI owner gets hung up on some decision along the way. If it's not color, it's DSC or Sport Suspension....stripes or no. It just takes time to work through all that. NAM can help, but in the end it's your call (be it my detailed deliberation or coin toss). If you suffer through this at all I'd be willing to bet that you, in the end, will love the color and options you select. There just isn't much of a downside to any color....even though CR is more common, it's also extremely classic and therefore amazing!! Keep working at it...all will become clear!!!

what i struggle with was to either get the sport package with the 17" web spoke wheels or do without the sport package and 17" web spoke rims and get the 16" bridge-spoke rims. i ended up just getting the 16" wheels cause the sport package made the payment above what i wanted to pay. do i wish i kept the sport package? maybe will i be happy without it? you bet! i mainly only wanted the sport package because of the 17" web spoke rims. down the road if i want 17" wheels i will buy some aftermarket rims.

CUTiger, not nice, not nice at all. My car payment does compete with my mortgage.
I also refused to pay the $450 for a sparkly paint when I knew I could love Oxy Blu just as much, if not more. I dont regret the color choice in the least bit... and I went back and forth on the sunroof, came back to being glad I didnt get it. It wasnt all about money. OR rather: its all about choices. People are motivated differently, go with it.
Especially satisfying was the guy at the coffeeshop who almost choked on his latte when he saw the Buzz. Thought it was a custom color.
And after all was said and done, my mini was right around that 20k mark. After all, I need to pay for premium now.

Thanks everyone. I really feel like I'll be happy with whatever color I go with. Just wanted to see if anyone had any regrets but doesn't sound like it.

I've painted a few car pieces in the past so have a pretty good idea about automotive paint prices. It is expensive but the difference between metallic and non-metallic is nowhere near $450.

CUTiger3, thanks for the warm comment. You missed the mark. I'm not making a stretch to buy this car but I do like to spend wisely. Frugal people generally don't even consider things they can't comfortably afford. I'd rather spend that money on a mod than a different shade of color.

what i would do is go to the config on miniusa and set it up the way you want it then go back to the paint section and go through each color schemes and which ever makes you smile the biggest go with that color scheme and don't worry about the extra $450. for me it's the lighning blue that makes me smile the biggest. i did struggle with either doing the body color roof and a black roof. at first i was dead set on going with the body color roof, but while talking to my MA he made this comment, since i'm getting the sunroof. he said if you don't want the sunroof to stick out so bad go with the black roof. if that don't bother you then go with the body color roof. so right then i decided to go with the black roof so the sunroof would blend into the roof. now i'm glad that i went with the black roof.

now the only thing i'm struggling with is the wait for my mini to make it to the US.

The price upgrade for color is the least of the total cost with so many other options to choose from. Although $450.00 could be spent on the Hi Fi, DSC, etc. If you really like Pepper White it seems to me its a win win. That was my first choice and I liked the fact that it saved me $450.00. In the end though my wife saw sparkling silver in person and since I was getting everything I wanted and the color didn't suck, thats what I choose. After waiting several weeks for delivery and not seeing any pictures doing the color justice, I had some second thoughts. As we walked onto the dealership a saw my car standing somewhat away from the other cars and on "display", I knew we made the right choice. The black roof, mirrors and sports stripes front and back blew me away. If your thinking about silver, grey, etc. take a look and sparkling silver. IMO, you won't be dissapointed. BTW, my wife keeps saying don't be so positive about sparkling silver or there will be to many of them on the road and less special.

I was torn between Laser Blue and white, Dark Silver and white, and Chili Red and white. My dealer just happened to have those three colors in the showroom when I ordered mine, so it made the decision a little easier.

I ended up going with Chili Red and white not because it was less expensive (like people have stated previously, $450 on a $22k + car is pocket change), but becasue when I picture a MINI in my head, I picture Chili Red and white. Not sure why, I just do. Then, since chosing Chili Red saved me $450, I decided to get the HiFi!

I think the BEST thing to do is go down to your dealer and see all the colors in person. They all look so much better than they do on the configurator!

I also suffered over color choice. It was between S/S and P/W. Since I did like them both, I ordered P/W and got the Zenons.

When All Else Fails......

If you can't decide on the color I recommend BRG.....I honestly did not even realize they made British cars in other colors . Really I think most of the colors that MC's can be ordered in are neat. My wife wanted Oxyen Blue, but its not available on the MCS . Ultimately pick the color that you like the most. Yeah some colors may run you an extra 450, but lets be honest, you're talking a couple extra bucks a month on your payment. Remember that you are going to bethe one looking at that car for awhile, spend the money and get what you want now, its cheaper than regretting it later!

I ended up going with my very first impression of what color I would want. Red w/Black...can't say if I regret the decision, and why is that? wait for it, here it comes....BECAUSE I DON"T HAVE MY FREAKIN' CAR YET!!!! ARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!! Honestly I'm happy to get my mini no matter what color it comes in. I'm just getting progressively more crabby the longer I have to wait.

I always thought if I had an all black MINI, that I would get the 'ARGHHH' license plates! Wouldnt that be cool???

You have to buy the color that catches your eye first. MINIs are awesome no matter the color, but you will always have that one color that just screams to you. "I'm Electric Blue, and I must go home with you!!!" You know, something like that. Like others have said, that is nothing compared with all the mods you are going to end up with. So, just buck up, order the car YOU want, and dont forget the Xenons (definately a must have). You only live once, be happy.

As least you are not also looking at MC! MC got nightfire red and oxygen blue and both look amazing. For MCS, my choice was narrowed to dark silver and lightning blue. I like both, but ended up getting dark silver because it looks better to me in person.

Color availability

Does anyone know why certain colors are only on the MC, I can't Imagine it would be difficult for them to offer those colors on the MCS as well.

Let's see - Much as I like CR/W, I have never regretted not getting it because the car I had for ten years prior to the MINI was red, so I wanted something different.

At times, I have wished that I (also) had BRG or Pure Silver (or Hyper Blue, which wasn't available when I bought my car anyway), but I have NEVER regretted getting Liquid Yellow/W. It was the brightest color available, no $400 surcharge, and it was the first color combo that I saw that made me think, "That's TOTALLY the color I would get!"

Probably just for the sake of having a couple of colors exclusive to each model.

Well, after reading through numerous posts on this site I think its safe to say that no matter what color you choose to get your MINI in, you will not be dissapointed with your decision to get a MINI

I love my color, but I would prefer if they had Night Fire Red on a MCS

Ok Now to me every English sports car should be either Burgundy (Reddish brown, MINI use to have Velvet Red) or Bristish Racing Green. When I ordered my MINI my wife had me talked into Dark Silver with Black roof. Two days after placing the order I called the dealer and changed it to BRG/W.

Now after two years and viewing countless other color combinations (and lusting after some of them) I am still happy with my BRG/W.

As a side note. When ever I have to pick out wall paper or someother item that I am going to have to live, I always go back to my first choice. So go with your first impulse. You won't regret it.

Ok, I am regretting my all chili red MSC. My second choice was Pure Silver at the time of purchase and if I'd do it all over again I would get all black MCSC. I still love my car and I have some ideas how to make more appealing, but right now I look at some colors and wish I picked them instead of the CR.

Pepper White here. Liked the white from the first time I saw it. And later, if I tire of it, I'll paint the top black. Be like having a whole new car . Good luck with your choice!

I don't regret spending the extra $$$ on dark silver.

I've even toyed with the idea of spraying the white roof and scoop pure silver and going for some other silver vinyl accents (U shaped bonnet stripe and A panel checks - a la checkmate). We'll see.

And you can always get it painted another color if you end up needing a change. A friend of mine out in LA got hers painted Bright Pink straight away after she purchased it.
