Average Height of Owners

Hello. I'm new the forum and I actually drive an E36 BMW.. but my GF is talking about picking up a Mini Cooper, and me being the car enthusiast I am, I set out to find information about Mini's. I then realized I really like them too.. However, I'm quite tall, 6'4 actually. So the question then comes in, how comfortable are the tall people in these cars. (I want to be able to mod her car and get some driving time of my own in it )

If you could post up your height, then tell us a brief account on how well you feel you fit in your Mini, and how comfortable you are in it, that would be perfect! Thanks.

PS.. there isn't any way to setup an easy poll for voting your height? Dang..

I'm 6'7".

Very comfy in my Mini. Wouldn't mind a bit more leg room, but I'm used to that in almost any car I drive.

There's even enough head room for my helmet when I autocross.

Really? Awesome. I did not expect that. Any leg room left over for the drivers side backseat?

Hiya! You're going to love it, and "fit" juuuuust fine!

I am 6'0" - yes, very tall for a female. My height is all legs. I have no trouble at all with fitting into my MCS 'vert. I move the seat back, but it's not all the way back. If it were all the way back, I wouldn't be able to operate the clutch. No problems whatsoever with leg room, distance to the steering wheel, or head room.

My husband is 6'2". His height is in his torso. He, too, has no issue with headroom in his hardtop MCS.

We have 2 very tall male members in our MINI club. One gentleman is at least 6'5" (probably taller) and he loves his MC. He's had it nearly 5 years. It is funny to see non-MINI-people's reactions when he exits his MINI! "How does he fit in there!"

Another member...6'4"ish has a GP. He also has no problems, and the GP is his third MINI.

Testimony that, in fact, whether short or tall, the MINI is made for all!

The drivers of the MINI in the family:

6'2, 6'4, 6'5. No problem!

When I'm driving, the seat behind me becomes irrelevent, and reverts to storage!

We don't use our Mini for anything than just the two of us. I think we've carried a passenger with us twice in the (almost) year we've had it.

Passengers go in the Element.

Sweeet! I was hoping this would be the case.

I know I fit real nicely in my little two door BMW.. so I figured Mini would have the same great engineering to maximize the head room/leg room in the cars.

And yeah, I figured the back seats would end up storage most the time. Oh well.. who needs more than two in a car anyways right?

Pictures! Let's see pictures!

I'm 6' 3" when I slouch. Still have room to move the seat back. It's tight when there is a passenger behind me, but that's seldom.

6'1" no problems -- but I do push the seat all the way back (so no leg room behind me)
My dad is 6'4" and has no problem driving my car when he visits.

I am 6'1" all legs. My seat is all the way back. The rear seats stay folded down as are merely a torture cell for passengers. However, my wife has a 2004 325 bmw and the MINI at least in front feels much more spacius

You think that's good, you should see the reactions when I get out of my MGB!

Actually, the seat does move back about an inch further on the E46 than it does in the MINI -- I don't know how it compares against your E36, but that may give you an idea as to leg room. Head room should not be an issue, 'cause the seat in the MINI can be lowered quite a bit (and if Gromit can do it with a helmet, I doubt you'll have a problem).

Edit - head room is especially a non-issue when you have the top down 98% of the time

My brother-in-law is 6'3" with a 35/36 inseam and he likes to drive with his legs fully extended which he can do in my MCS (when I let him!). He commented that my MCS is the first car he fits in since his 69 Porsche 912 and said the driving postition is identical (i.e.-perfect). There is more room in my MCS than his 02 Z06 Corvette.

i'm towering at 5'6". and i have plenty of room. haha. seriously though, i've given rides to people who are 6'4" and 6'5" and they are amazed when they sit inside. it's funny to see the expression on their face. it's like they have never sat in a vehicle with that much room. I guess i don't see that look usually since that's a not a problem for me. i have the "not tall enough" problem. haha.

I'm 6'9" and have no problem. (of course mine is a Classic cabrio so not much help.) I have driven a MINI on a number of occations and had plenty of room. The only thing I noticed was how much headroom the sunroof takes. Just my two cents.

I'm 6'2", and drive mine daily. I'm the one that picks up the boys from school, too. My 6 year old sits behind me, and has plenty of room for his feet, now that they get below the level of the seat. The 6 month old sits in his car carrier on the passenger side. We can get the whole family into the MINI quite well (wife is 5'2").

There's a member of the local club who is 6'7". Most times, he's the passenger, though they have found that when doing a ralley, they operate better as a team when he drives.

Us more vertically challenged folks need some more representation!
5'8" and that leaves managable room in the back seat. It feels like a perfect fit, but the seats adjust waaay down, hence the variety of heights that could feel that way.
