Foglight Bulb Replacement Advice / DIY

i just purchased a set of Hoen OEM Match foglight bulbs. I assume that this is an easy access plug-in but i have not yet looked under the car. can i simply access the foglight housing from the underside? if not, is there is DIY link somewhere on the NAM board? thanks.

(i do understand the importance of not touching the bulb directly.)

The fog light bulbs are not too hard to to replace. The bulbs are accessed from the front fender well.

First, either turn a front wheel toward the opposite corner (if replaceing the driver side bulb, turn the wheel all the way toward the passenger side) or remove the wheel. I've done it both ways and it is easier if you remove the wheel.

Next, remove the the screw that secures the front air dam to the wheel well liner. This screw is under the car and goes straight up.

Then remove enough of the screw clips that hold the wheel well liner to the wheel well so that you can pull the liner back to access the back of the fog light assembly.

Unclip the wiring, turn the bulb aassembly and pull out.

Reverse procedure to install new bulb.

By they way, if you ever need to replace a fog light assembly, the assembly also comes out through the wheel well. It's held on with three hex head screws from behind.

The lamp access is through the wheelwell. remove 4 retaining clips (which look like Phillips screws) behind the lamp area, plus one 'real' screw on the bottom forward lip of the wheelwell plastic. Pull ths liner backwards to access the area. You will see the bulb on the back of the housing. DIsengage the electrical connector from the bulb by lifting the clip then pulling down, then twist the bulb and pull from the housing. Reverse everything to reassemble.

EDIT: What he said above.

You can you press on the outer portion that isn't supposed to turn to give yourself a little more leverage. I also stripped one but luckily, it was far enough away from the front that I just left it in and bent the fender liner outward to get at the foglight. Worse case scenario, drill through the screw part and pull the outer portion off.

Grrrr. . . those little two piece screw thingys are no fun. I've had them strip, restrip and strip again all over. It's like they're made of margerine, not plastic. If you destroy a few going in and out changing lights, which I've done about 5 times, then you may need a few new ones from the dealer.

You should be able to find suitable replacements at Lowes or Home Depot. Look in the nuts and bolts isle in the section with automotive fasteners.

You won't be disappointed with the yellow fogs. I have them in my Hella fog light kit but not yet in the OEM fogs...
