SLVR Cell Phone Adaptor

I've set up my MCS with Bluetooth with my Cingular SLVR and it works great. I can make/receive calls with good quality and the address book syncs. Mini doesn't seem to offer the charger adaptor that goes in the center arm rest for the SLVR, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a third party/BMW one that fits and works? Thanks

That's good to hear that it works, I have the SLVR as well and not having a charger will only give me yet another thing to whine about, I hope the carger will become available at some point, like by the time I actually get my car.

Yeah, but by then you may have a new phone.

that might actually be the answer to the problem, get a new phone. So what phones are supported by the chargers that are are available...I'm clueless on this one...as well as a great many other things.

I'm told that the sleeve that fits the phones is the same as the BMW, so I looked there, and there aren't very many listed on the site. Older phones and some RAZRs is all I saw.

Well, I'm in the same club. Hope it's not just limited to Oregonians. I've made and received calls with the bluetooth system and that works fine but haven't found the right insert to plug in the phone to the car system.

Looks like this phone charging station is an unimplemented feature, as we used to say in the software business.

If this were Apple instead of BMW, there would be a class action suit demanding a refund.

The 2007 MINI -- a work in progress. No option shipped before its time.

What Robin says is so typical. Well, I can't believe what I'm about to say because it pretty much negates all possibilties for me to get in a good whine...the cell phone charger is really not that big of a deal, but I would like to have it, even if I don't use it. Truth is I will just be happy to have my car when it finally arrives. In fact I should probably just turn off the stupid phone when I drive anyway, like I want anyone interrupting my motoring experience.

I also like how with their wording, it appeared that the cradle needed for your particular phone would be provided. Now, it appears that isn't true and you have to buy the appropriate one, if they even have one available for your particular phone.

The manual says you can buy one if they have one. And I did see pix of a recent new Mini who had the sleeve in his armrest with his phone in it. I asked him what phone it was and where he got it, but I don't think he posted back on that. It was just after I got mine (a month ago).

The parts guy at my dealership says the Motorola SLVR/RAZR lines won't have a cradle because the attachment point would have to be the mini-USB plug on the side of the phone.

We're bluetooth-or-nothin', apparently.

I think you just flunked out of the Skuzzy School of Whine. This is not the proper response at all. I think it should go something like, "I'm not worried about whether I can charge my phone in the car... wait for it ...BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE MY CAR!!!!"

What's worse is that you have negated a fellow whiner with a legitimate whine. This is a very serious offense.

I paid for the Bluetooth Phone Integration, yet I only have partial functionality. The fact that I rarely use a phone in the car is irrelevant. BMW advertised it, I paid for it, I should have it!

While we are on the subject of whines -- and I should have taken Skuzzy to task for this sometime ago -- to keep with the British flavor of the MINI, we should not be talking about "whines". The proper term is moan, as in: "He's having a moan."

I think this just begs the question... why can't we get some kind of acceptable standard plug for ALL cell phones? Why do we consumers continue to accept that all the accessories you have now from one phone will most likely not work with the phone you get in two years time?

The Consumer Electronics industry should really get together and make some standards for power chargers/docks/adapters for things.

When I do long-term travel or vacationing, I have to bring a plug or battery charger for my laptop, one for my MP3 player, one for my cell phone, one for my digital camera, one for my digital video camera.

I have a graveyard box of old chargers, batteries, and other stuff that I keep meaning to responsibly recycle, but it's a joke how many different plugs, adapters, accessories that I've stockpiled in my years of being a gadget freak.

Why can't the world just listen to us sensible, reasonable, intelligent MINI owners to fix the modern world's problems?

YOUR DAMN RIGHT I DON'T HAVE MY CAR !!!!! like I need YOU to remind me of THAT!!!! Guess what I had to drive today, AGAIN! my effing 15 passinger van. UNBEARABLE!!! so, sorry for the offense...in any case all my energy has been spent toward whining about the buffalo sabers losing in the playoffs, UNBELEIVEABLE!!! As far as moaning is concerned...Skuzzy and I do it the american way...we WHHHIIIIIIIIIIIINE and also keep in mind that I am not Skuzzy...and that no two whiners are alike.
