Photographer Warren Bolster dies

FYI: Surf/Skateboarding photographer Warren Bolster has died.

It's always sad when a creative person dies, especially someone who has made such an impact on a particular sport.

Searched to find out more about Warren Bolster as I haven't heard of him. I've got a huge photo of a pipeline by Hank Fotos in my bedroom and the style is similar to Warren's. Here's a good link about him and then some of his photos.

I really think it was his art of skateboard photography that had the most impact on how others saw that world. Somewhere I noticed how he was among the first to use a fisheye combined with flash to create high profile images of the skateboarding culture which eventually got others to pay attention to that sport.

Perhaps that's what drew my attention to begin with. We here in this photo forum, and a handful of others, are the forerunners of MINI art, just like Warren Bolster was to his interests.

It's fine to preach to the choir but it sure is challenging to witness to the world. What I'm trying to say is . . . we have a lot of fine photographers that frequent this forum who can have just as equal an impact on our "sport" as Warren did to his. Y'all know who you are.
