Feeling a bit better, still sad I can't see how badly my shot would have done in comparison, but...

That's all you had to say brother! I wish things had gone differently too, but live and learn... all the way around. As for me, I've learned to set my date ridiculously far into the future.

The big and sometimes nasty responses this months contest controversy has garnered does show an intense interest in this monthly feature. In short, it's popular and successfull.

And being lost in the mistakes made, is that Dave is not only running this on his own, but trying to make it better. Sometimes less rules are better, sometimes strict adherence is too harsh, yada, yada.

I'm still bummed out but...

I like the contest
I like conforming to a monthly topic.
I like that each photo is a brand new creation, not just pulled from the existing pool.
I like (but am not attached to) an avoidance of photoshopping.
I really enjoy being picked on by everyone who posts (except tsukiji... the cheesehead )
So thank you Dave for doing all that! Please don't erase me again, cause I look forward to this every month!

Thanks. I'd like to single out OctaneGuy as being someone that is trying to make the contest better too.

I totally agree with you. I'd rather be doing other things than checking EXIF and making sure members didn't upload multiple photos to the contest gallery, but I firmly believe that the contest should be as fair as possible to those that have gone out to shoot with the topic in mind. It's a balance and hopefully this is as far as the pendulum swings and it is now on a return path.

I'll hopefully be joining you in submitting a photo next month.

Next month's topic is going to be a good one and it will also be sponsored by vacucam again.

I got a idea (no comments from the peanut gallery ).

How bout we announce the topics two months a time. For example
July topic is : contrast
August topic is : black and white

This will give us more opportunity to get the subject photo's we need. A good example was the Dragon. I left early and the topic was annouced after I left. Therefore I missed out on all the great flowers along the parkway going up to Georgia. (I need a wireless internet Laptop )

Anyway, that's my two cents, I broke now.

I was showing Ms. Speednut the comments about this month's contest and she suggested adding a quarterly contest to supplement the monthly contest. This would help out those with limited time. Maybe offset it with entry deadline early in the month as so not to interfere with the regular monthly contest?

How about a monthly theme of "On the farm, no clean Minis allowed". Help out those in mountain deprived areas and a good challenge to us urban folks to get out motoring.

My $.02 FWIW.

Well, sorry, just one more thing... Anyone who has not set the date on their camera hasn't had to wade through lots of photos on their hard drive trying to figure out when a particular photo was taken. Then again, my memory is lousy and I need all the help I can get. Help your future self out by setting the date.
