Dave's AMVIV Photos - many pics

Thanks to those that have asked about where my AMVIV photos were and when I was going to post them. I'm now able to start posting some of the photos.

Randy working on Michael's MCS

Randy's daughter Katelin
(her mother is supervising just off to the left of the frame)

Brian working on his MINI prior to the NAMCC

The new WMS HDI airbox shown in Brian's MINI

Lots more to come

Pic 3

All four pics are good but there's something about that third photograph that strikes a note or two, and I can't tell what it is.

I like the shdaows behind Brian and the MINI. The simplicity of the sky background helps us focus on his expression. That wind-caused disheveled look really adds to the notion of him working on his car.

Something else that really helps this pic is the color coordination, kind of in the fashion sense. The DS coordinates with the concrete and the guy's pants, while the dark blue sky does so with his tee-shirt. I imagine this was luck because I doubt Brian thought "I better make sure my colors are coordinated for the photographers in the crowd." Still, it works well in this case. Finally, the touch of green breaks up the two-tone very well for me.

Thanks for all of that. You're expressing some things about that photo that are some of the reasons I like it quite a bit too.

BTW, I like your bridge pic today.

The pig trail huh? I just so happen to live right near that. I live in Fayeteville and have been on there several times. It's one heck of a twisty road!

The Pig Trail is our Dragon, wouldn't you say???

It was really exciting and an honor to have David shoot my car. I have been "privately" enjoying these photos at a super-secret web link and am happy that they are finally public! Yay!

Thanks Dave, for all your great work. (((((big hug)))))

Very nice, Dave! Was #3 done with an SB off-camera? The lighting's beautiful in #4, too.

Was that first TulsaMINI shot a rig shot? Just kidding... . Great stuff!

Aw, thanks. I have not so secretly been love the way your MINI's graphics tie together so nicely since the day I first saw it posted on NAM.

That's exactly how 3 and 4 were done.

BTW, I heard you got your new SB-800's recently.

Thanks, Richard! Not bad for a 3+ year-old, non-garaged, daily driver, huh? Just don't look too closely!

Hmmm, I wonder who could have told you? Yep, I did. I now have two SB-800s. I decided, after much thinking, to get that rather than the SB-600 like we had discussed. In the end, I decided the 2/3 of a stop would be a good thing, but it was very close. I'm looking forward to trying them out at the Dragon.

Not to take this thread completely off-track (if I haven't already done so), but check out this site: http://strobist.blogspot.com/

Mark's car is almost always immaculate. Those pics do it justice, and make Tulsa's car look amazing (not that it doesn't in person).

Dave, I love that 1st shot of Tulsa's car driving down the Strip.

Yeah, I've been playing around with these types of shots and they're very challenging for me anyway! If I get anything worth post, it'll be up.

As always, great shots DiD. Keep them coming, I know you've got more...

The take rate isn't very high for me either. My only advice is take a lot of shots and expect to have a lot of rejects.
