Great shots all around - I had a blast reading through them all.

Here's a door we saw while walking around on my wife's birthday in downtown Minneapolis. I like to think this is a nice shot, but would welcome any comments, suggestions. My only camera is a Sony W-5.

You can see the fill size here:

This is a great shot... looks like a movie poster or book cover... can't find anything to suggest - it just works!

I love these. Spook Fog pics are the best. We don't get to much fog out here in AZ.

Great shots

I like that door pic. It's a well-composed shot. The chiaroscuro lighting adds to its mood.

I took these photos in Huntington Beach at about 4am during a full moon. I had no idea what I was doing but I had an absolute blast and it has inspired me to learn more about photography. Anyway, its embarrassing to juxtapose these against your work but I don’t think these are too bad for an absolute beginner.

Very cool. I think this is another one that could benefit from a split neutral density filter, however, to keep the lights from blowing out the lower part of the scene.

Thanks. Shoot, I'm just glad the headlight beams show up! I thought the red light glow makes it look like a rocket blasting off.
You talking about a screw-on filter, or post processing?

Screw-on's what I had in mind. It's a filter that's half clear, half neutral-density grey. The grey part serves to let less light through without changing the color tones, so you'd rotate the darker part over the tail lights. That type of filter will definitely affect your composition, however; you'd have to keep the grey half below the rear window, say.

I should probably say now that I've not used one of these filters, but I think the idea's sound... :-)

For post-processing, you could take two shots, one exposing for the rays from the headlights and another exposing for the tail lights and then composite them in Photoshop.

Both could be difficult, really, since the fog scatters the light all over the place!
