In the post September 11, 2001 world people with cameras are under constant scrutiny. Many of us have experienced harrasment, detainment, physical confrontations and threats. Some of it very minor... and some more severe.

Go here, read the article and print out many copies of the PDF to hand out to people, police and rent-a-cops that question/harass you. Know your rights and make sure they know your rights too.

May I say sir, you rock. I keep forgetting to look for something like this. I went to NYC over 10 years ago to visit a friend of mine who is a professional photographer and definetely knows his rights. I was quite amazed to see him not back down when photographing over 100 uniformed policemen all lined up outside the big arena for a concert. A lot of them were yelling at him saying they would arrest him but he kept shooting. Ever since then I've made it a point to remember my rights because I would have listened to them and walked away.
