July 2011 // Photo Contest Topic // Open Topic

Follow this link for the: Rules and Submission Instructions The deadline for entry is noon pacific on the 25th of this month.

The photo contest is held to encourage people to take new photos with the topic in mind. As a result, please do not submit any photos taken before the contest topic was announced (see contest rules regarding EXIF data). Photos posted to this thread do not count. You must upload photos to the monthly photo contest gallery in order to be entered.

July Photo Topic :: Open Topic

Interpret that how you will, keeping in mind that the photos must be MINI related and that only one photo per member per month may be submitted.

Since I am late posting it up this year, the only topic is that the photo must contain a MINI/Mini. Free reign from there, take whatever shot your heart desires.

Alright, so I'm new to this forum and this contest, I gave the rules a read, but was just curious about a couple things......

1. Cropping? Is it allowed?
2. Spot Color? Can we do it?
3. HDR?
4. Multi-frame shooting? Is it allowed?

Sorry for being such an idiot. I'm super psyched about my new MINI and also about the contest. Hopefully I can show some of my skills here! I'd love to help out in any way with any sort of still image contest.

While my video experience is pretty limited, I've been editing images for quite a while!

Hope you all have a great day! Shoot 'em up!

The rules say that you are supposed to submit the photo captured by your camera. Tthe reason for this is to keep a level playing field for the hobbyist who snapped off a picture against someone who can take a mediocre photo and turn it into a centerfold using retouching. Typically I don't reject photos for small edits, things like cropping or adding a border to the image.

For more major edits to the original capture I usually will reject photos. For HDR, if it is done subtly, I will usually accept. If the HDR effect is extremely overdone to make special note that it was an HDR then it'll probably get rejected.

Feel free to submit whatever you'd like, but I'd prefer if they were original captures. If you are going to make edits to the original, I'd recommend getting it submitted ahead of the deadline in case they are too edited, that way I can let you know and you can resubmit a less-touched photo.

Cool! Thanks man! Much appreciated. I can do whatever for sure, just didn't want to go to far.

I'll just stick with cropping and that'll do. Not a fan of HDR, so I just really wanted to know if I was competing against it

I'll do my best and see what happens!

Thanks again!

Feel free to thumb through previous winners - https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ry.php/cat/650 for an idea of what kind of photos have won in the past.

MS Maggie, I think you might want to check out the photo contest rules (which is linked to in the topic thread each month). All photos are uploaded to a gallery on NAM. They are then placed into a thread with a poll (the photos won't be visible as they are deleted after voting is completed) at the end of the month (on/around the 25th of the month). Voting takes place until the 1st of the following month, when the photo with the most posts is declared the winner.

This month the winner was Rogue Leader, the post announcing the winner is stuck to the top of this forum until the next winner is crowned the following month.

I see that this thread is from six years ago, but hey, let's give it some love! Time may have passed, but discussing politics, religion, and other controversial topics is always interesting, right?
