Yeah I liked the Brownie Hawkeye but didn't like the vignetting in the corners at large aperture settings.

I use a Canon SX10 most of the time now.


But from time to time I still use my film cameras.



and if I really need lots of resolution, I use my dad's old TLR.

 

FILM?!? do you still use stone tablets for writing?

 

LOL. I still love film and miss working in a darkroom. I still have half a dozen or so film cameras, but haven't used them in a while. I need to dig out the old K1000.

 

I took a photography class in college and loved working in a darkroom. I used one of my vintage cameras, a 60's Miranda. If the stuff is still made for it, I'm going to set up a darkroom someday when I can afford it.

 

I'm using a FUJIFILM Finepix. But I'm thinking about a DSLR sometime in the future...

 

Cannon D10 for me.

Its easy to use, waterproof, dust and sand proof, 12.1 mega pix, takes decent pictures at night, durrable enough to take 4-wheelin or camping, I can even drop the thing without worrying much about it. PERFECT!

For video, I just got a GoPro HERO Wide HD, I havent got to use it yet but it's waiting for me when I get home. The YouTube videos I have seen taken on theese things is incredible! There's no doubt in my mind that it will be well worth the almost $500.00 bucks (extra Li battery, 32 gig SD card, and a few extras, on top of the $299.00 price). I cant wait to strap it to the front of my cars and get some experiance with it. Hopefully I don't do something dumb like mount it to low on my trail rig and smash it into a rock or a tree!

 

are you looking slr or point/shoot or the middle ground. the middle ground being a super zoom.
I use a canon sx10is however the new sx30is is the one to have right now if you're interested in a superzoom. very easy but it can do a lot.
i love the camera. it can't do everything a slr can but it's great overal for my needs.

 

At work, I mostly use a Canon S90 because of its pocketability, RAW function, and f/2.8. I also keep my Nikon D70 with a 50mm f/1.4 attached. (Once in a while I go crazy and use a 10.5mm fisheye with it.)

its a good balance of action photography and high dynamic range. Its kind of a cheaper intermediary between a D5 and a D7 without as much resolution.

I have a Canon SD 1000 for quick around the house use, and keep a Nikon L11 (older point n' shoot) in the glovebox, but my main camera is a Nikon D40. I use a 18-55 lens, 70-200, and a 50mm prime.

The best camera available, is the one you hold in your hands.

That's a great shot. I need to do a little experimentation with ambient lighting and some Photoshop enhancements.

Anyway this month I added an 18-270mm lens to my t1i. It's a compromise of course but since my two main opportunities with the big body camera are either on the bike or with the toddler, I wanted to distill down to a single lens for on the go. So far I'm impressed with it.

 

If you need more features, such as RAW, Higher ISO and Shutter speeds, lower shutter speeds and quite a few other things, try CDHK. I have it for my SX10 and it works great. CDHK is available for pretty well any of the Canon point n shoots.

 

Since this is a camera thread, anyone have any suggestions on a relatively inexpensive water-proof camera? We will be going to the S. Pacific in a couple of weeks and while there I was going to try my hand at learning how to SCUBA dive and I thought it would be fun to get some pictures of the indigenous no-air breathing creatures that inhabit that part of the blue marble. 20 years ago when I first married the Mrs., we took a cruise in the W. Carribean and I took along a couple of the disposable Kodaks but I didn't get any good pictures, probably because the WX was crap and the sea cloudy as **&&. I'm not even sure they make those things any more, anyone have any information?

 

The Cannon D10, its water proof and takes some good shots. I recomend sealing the doors up with a little vasolene if you plan on keeping it under water for more than 15 minutes. Mine leaked a little in the pool in Kuwait, but once it dried out it was good.

 

I've been having good luck with my third Canon, the PowerShot SX120.

My bread and butter camera is a Cannon 1DMKIII with a slew of lenses. I also shoot with a Toyo View 45, Razzle 45, Mamiya 1000s and a bunch of other older cans for TTV.

 

Nikon D3 and misc. lenses :-)

 

Im rocking a Sony a300 and love it. easy enough for the wife to use as a point and shoot with all the SLR goodness Im still learning to use.
