A semi/night photoshoot
A semi/night photoshoot
I took the car out for some photos after adding a few personalizations to the back of the car (new plate, track map and Android stickers). When I went to take my tripod out of its bag one of the legs fell off, must not have survived the last outing. I improvised with a utility box for the night shots, I think they came out OK, but with the low light, lack of tripod, and wide angel lens focus was quiet a hassle.
Enough explaining my crappy shots, here they are.

I wouldn't say crappy! I like the 3rd and 4th shots for sure.
But I will ask a dumb question - what does NO E30 mean? I'll prolly have a V8 moment when you share, but, I have to ask cuz I just can't figure it out...

It's an old BMW joke that isn't designed for the average person, even the average MINI enthusiast, to get. The E30, 1980s 3 series, is often referred to as the pinnacle of engineering or "God's Chariot" Ferrari Enzos, Bugatti Veyrons and the like are all compared to the E30, to which it is typically exclaimed "it's no E30".
Bimmerforums is getting a kick out of it.

Yeah I was having a lot of issues with focus because of the wide angel and low light. The camera often times wouldn't auto focus and it was really tough with the utility box and the wide lens to get it to focus manually, it would look focused, I'd take the picture, zoom in, see it wasn't focused and repeat the process again. I have many duplicate shots of varying degrees of fuzziness. I'd love a better way to do this for this type of situation.
They were shot with my Canon Rebel XTI and a Tamron 12-24 f4.0
The shot with the back of the car:
ISO 100
F/4.0
Focal lenth: 24mm
Length: 1.6 seconds
Side of car (this one was shot earlier when there was more light):
ISO 200
F/ 4.0
Focal lenth: 12mm
Length: 1 second

The thin metal top of the utility box may have vibrated a little bit when the shutter opened too, that may be my problem. I need to get back out there with a proper tripod. Maybe I should have used a higher ISO too?
