Edit / Update: Union Bank has posted the commercial on their own YouTube page, here it is...
Original Post: A producer for a Alexandria VA film company contacted DCMM looking for a red convertible MINI to use for a bank commercial. I jumped at the chance and below is a just a couple clips of what went on. The commercial is going to use a nice slow fly over type shot of the car and actors. (No, that's not me in the car)
Lots of fun, a few $ for my trouble, and they promise of copy of the finished commercial. I've been told they might be able to get me permission to post the finished product.
Biggest problem was trying to get a not too dirty car to a shoot in Alexandria for a 4:30 am Tues morn shoot. We had a good deal of snow this weekend and the roads are still a mess with sand and salt.
Here' my "The making of" video

Well, a LITTLE bit I only wish the commercial were going to air in MY area. It's for a new bank in RIchmond so it's doubtful anyone in my club or family will see it on air. I never dreamed it'd be such a 'beauty' shot and show off the interior so well!
as of right now, watching your vid..it seems like they're promoting the mini itself!!
It does doens't it! It's a pretty darn cool shot, like something I'd have loved to done if I'd had access to a boom like that! I expecte the car would be on screen 2-3 seconds. But looks like the whole commercial maybe.

PS, Why is there a light in the passenger side footwell aiming up and hitting the glove compartment???!?
Thanks! That light was to brighten her face. That and some tape they put on the back of the convertible top will be removed in post production I'm sure. There is also a green screen in front of the car beyond the bushs. I think the billboard / sign gets dropped in the post production as well.
What camera did you use to take the YouTube video? It is nice and crisp.
Thanks. It's a Canon Vixia HF S100. It's a AVCHD format that records to SD cards. It's 1080 HiDef, 1920 x 1440 and 30 fps at highest setting. Edited with Adobe Premiere Elements and upload to YouTube from within Premiere. I am JUST beginning to learn what the camera and Premiere can do.
I liked the camera primarily for the ability to shoot 8 Megpixel stills simultaneously with shooting 1080 HiDef video. No more pulling out a digital still and taking stills after. Just start shooting video and then hit the other button to shoot 8MP stills while the video is recording too.
Oh and some other questions to answer. They ran out with coats and covered the actors when not shooting. And I was told I could have a digital copy of the completed commercial. And they may be able to get me permission to post it on YouTube.
They emailed me the finished commercial. Very cool if I do say so myself. It won't air till March 30th so they asked me not to post till then. Stay tuned.
