Hee! What do they sell in there??

And are the goose's eyes glowing red? Sorta creepy...

Mainly "Big Duck" paraphernalia. Used to sell real duck in there when I was a kid, but that was a long time ago...

And yes, it actually is a duck, not a goose. Although, now that I look at it, it could pass for a goose! His eyes are actually reflectors - and they don't look so creepy in person.

And I thought only Australia went in for "big" things. We have a big banana, a big pineapple, a big lobster and a big merino (sheep), to name but a few - but no big ducks.

A MINI snowman...

Maybe it's because I didn't make it to the wine shop before it closed....
Maybe it's because I drove a Healey 3000 with broken exhaust to many years...
Maybe I was dropped at birth...
but here ya go.
I go outside to take a picture of the snow...

And I notice ....

Well, I can't let that go by. The bag of charcoal is right behind me. So...

At first, Snow Coopie likes this spot...

Then the realization that he would be sitting in the drive way for a few days

Love the pictures and the good sentiments!

Albiecrazy, that duck shop is somewhat legendary among MINIacs. Though I never met him, apparently a MINI giant (Ed "Maxamini" Smith) once visited the shop and subsequently began handing out ducks to MINI owners everywhere. Unfortunately, Ed's life came to an early and unexpected end. His reputation as a truly decent, funny, and generous human being is captured in this memorial thread on MINI2:

http://www.mini2.com/forum/new-york-...-maxamini.html

It's an amazing story and Ed seems to have embodied much of the MINI spirit in his life.

The ducks have now 'soared' to significant symbolism as well. Here is a link to another thread on MINI2 about two ducks that travel the globe (literally) spreading good cheer to MINI owners worldwide. They do so to honor the memories of Ed and another legendary MINI owner taken too early from this world.

Their story is here:

tedswoods, the coolest thing about this whole story is that Ed happened to start such a great tradition among MINI folk within a stone's throw of my house.

I took delivery of my '08 MINI in August of '08 - fast forward to May of 2009 and I decided to put together my own run. I picked the Big Duck as one of the starting points (it was a convenient meeting point for CT and MA MINIs who took the ferry over) and I soon began to learn about Ed, the duck tradition and QQJack & QQJill. Then YellowMININY arranged for the QQ's to get down to Long Island for my run and we're now part of the link you mentioned.

24 MINIs had a blast that weekend and I can't wait for us to get together again this year.

Here's the CT and MA MINI peeps meeting up at the duck last year. My girls are holding QQJack & Jill at the entrance to the duck.

And care of Scooter08 - here's MINIs to the Point 2009 as they appear in the MINI2 forum. It's nice to be a part of such a great tradition!
