Come on out to help re-open the bridge!

The John Roebling Suspension Bridge connecting Cincinnati OH to Covington KY is currently closed and under going maintenance. The bridge will re-open on April 22, 2007 to amass of MINIs. The day of fun will include some great photo ops, lunch, and a short drive. A great way to shake of the winter blues with some spring motoring.

Since this is a road construction project the date may change (but we sure hope not). Currently all is on schedule. The opening time should be around 11:00am.

More details to come, but in the mean time mark it on your calendar.

Will do. Currently people from Cincci MINI, Mid-Ohio, Bluegrass MINI, and of course MINI Indiana are coming out. It would be great to see Chicago there as well .

We are still a go for April 22nd. Shooting for a time of 11:00am. The bridge may have to re-open sooner than that if it is completed ahead of schedule, but at the very least, we can still have our drive.

Still ironing out the after bridge-crossing details. But the plan is for a short drive and lunch.

I just heard from our sister club, and the bridge event is CANCELLED. Apparantly the KY DOT fell behind on bridge repairs in January due to the bad weather and are splitting up the repair into 2008. The bridge is, I gather, already re-opened and the parade is cancelled.

But, we can still get together for pictures at Wright Patt that weekend - we still have the opportunity to park near the B-52 and shoot photos.

So, I'll open it up to you guys... The Indy group will be in nothern KY on Sunday the 22nd and wants us to meet them for a drive through Southern Ohio, ending up at Wright Patt in the early afternoon for the scheduled ph oto opp. Anyone have any specific requests or ideas?

Yes, the Indy group is still planning a motoring drive from Covington KY up to Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton on Sunday the 22nd. Thank you for the site link.

It's unfortunate that the actual opening event got canceled, but the KY DOT did want to try again in 2008 after further construction and bridge painting is complete.
