St. Louis Curvy Swervy MINI Rally April 13, 2003
MINI and Mini Rally set for April 13th.
We should meet at Eureka High School (about 1/2 mile north of I-44 on Hwy 109) at 12:00 (noon.) The Rally will start at 12:30 and we will leave as a group. Although the ride itself we be more than enough reason to come, we will have a rally for those with a navigator. It will be a relatively easy sign rally on very twisty and sometimes narrow roads. The driving part of the rally will take about 1 hour and 40 minutes and cover approximately 60 miles so fuel up (car and body) and take care of any restroom activity before you arrive. The rally will end at a winery in the Augusta area so bring a picnic lunch or if you wish, they will have food available for purchase. No alcohol will be allowed into the winery area but other beverages are OK. Of course they will have their wines available for tasting and purchase.
Items to bring: clipboard, pencil or pen, area road map (optional), picnic lunch (optional), and beverages. Anti-nausea pills for the navigator may be desirable.
Our Minis and MINIs were bred to be driven hard on twisty roads and we intend to oblige the faster drivers but for those that want to drive in a more leisurely pace, they are welcome also as the rally is not timed and complete directions will be given out.
Please email your rsvp to mickkeenoy@msn.com however an rsvp is not necessary.
Please come out and enjoy your Mini or MINI on the kind of roads for what it was bred and it will exceed your expectations. You will most certainly leave the rally with a sore face from grinning too much and you will have found a new respect for your marvelous motoring machine.

Can't wait for this awesome event! It should be added to our events page on STLMINI.COM by tomorrow. I will send an announcement e-mail to all STLMINI members as well. Motor on!
Hi,
I'm "Bee's" co-host for the event. Basically we will be handing out directions with mileage, directions & questions about signs etc seen along the route. Your navigator will keep track of the mileage & alert you to the turns etc. It's real easy in the MINI since the speedo is where she can see it. I'm typing up the directions for Mick & they are pretty self explanatory. But Mick & I will both be available to help everyone with specifics on the day of the event. We have done many of these rallys with the Miata club & they are really, really fun. I've been both navigator & pilot with my husband. As for as answering the questions for the quiz both of you will have to keep your "eyes peeled" for the answers. We are looking forward to introducing many MINI drivers who have never had the experience of doing a rally. See you on the 13th.
Happy Motoring,
Lois

>>Hey Bee,
>>
>>I'll be there. I'm bringing my navigator (wife ) with me this time. I've never done a rally like this before, can you brief me on what she'll be doing exactaly?
The navigator's job will not be too hard in this rally--mostly watching for signs along the route to answer questions in the directions. The navigator will be giving directions to the driver as to which road to take, where and which way to turn, and where the road may get tricky or narrow.

Have fun... maybe I can join you in the future. Unfortunately, I planned a trip to the Oauchita mountains portion of Arkansas for this weekend for some personal time on some beautiful twisty roads.

Mick,
The rally today rocked! Those (and there MINI's) that weren't there, don't know what they missed.
Death to SUV's (and Trucks). Those that drove today know what I mean, those that navigated are probably thanking God for them
