Michigan Mongolian-Kart Drive
#1
OKAY, IT'S OFFICIAL!!
WHAT: MMMC First Mongolian-Kart Drive
WHO: Anyone is welcome to join us. If you have a new MINI, a Classic
Mini, or are patiently awaiting your MINI that is currently on some
ship crossing the Atlantic you're welcome to come out.
WHEN: Saturday April 5th- We have planned meeting points around the
East side of the state to accomadate those who wish to have a more
flexible schedule.
1:00 P.M. - For those of us near Flint (or those who just want to
motor a little extra, we will meet up at Applebees on Hill Road (at
the I-475 junction) and motor down to BD's Mongolian Bar-B-Q. We
will meet up at 12:45 PM and depart Applebees promptly at 1:00 P.M.
2:00 PM - For those near Detroit, we will meet at Mongolian Bar-B-Q
on Hall Rd (M-59) in Sterling Heights for food and fun. We will also
be making a schedule of upcoming meets, and discuss where we want to
make the next meets. We'll have about 2 hours for lunch and
discussion.
4:00 PM- We'll pile up in our MINIs and depart BD's and caravan to
Kart2Kart, which is not the far of a drive, but being that we have
MINIs and it's HUGE fun to travel in a group like this, we will take
the long way there.
4:45 - 5:00 PM - We'll arrive at Kart 2 Kart. I'm going to create a
poll on the Yahoo site to figure out how many people will want to drive a
Kart. If we can get 20-24 drivers or more, we can rent the whole
track for about $54 - $45 per person. This is a little steep, but
it's a great "Grand Prix" experience. It includes a practice
session, qualifying session, and a feature race. A total of 24
minutes of seat time, per person. 10 people per session. These
karts are not your average go-karts. They travel between 30-40mph,
and require you to wear a full face helmet and a neck brace. (You
can bring your own helmet). The heats are fully timed, and you will
recieve a printout, which includes all of your lap times, average
times, and best lap highlighted. It also includes a breakdown of all
drivers' times and how you placed in the group.
If we want to spend a little less cash, which may be the best way to
go, we can get one session per person (about 10 - 15 laps) for
$18.00. If we go this route the track will be open to the public,
and we would be sharing it with others. But the facility now knows
that we will be there at 5:00 and will not allow another group to
bump us out of our time.
If anyone knows the Sterling Heights area well, please email me and
we can map out a drive to K2K from BD.
ITEMS TO BRING:
- Cameras
- 2-Way Radios, these are so handy. If you don't have any, please
go out and spend the $24. I can't stress how much help these things
will be in our drives.
- Your favorite MINI Motoring Gear
- Full tank of gas
- Of course, your lovely smile.

Of course we would love you to join our MMMC Yahoo group, but we will always post the events on MCO as well. It's just easier to keep up with everything on the yahoo group. We also have someone that is going to purchase and build a website for us very soon. Should be up by Mid-April. *crosses fingers*
I hope that you can get your MINI Ryan. That would be sweet, but if you can't you are always welcome to join us like before. You do have the beemer, so that is great in my book. At least it's not an Azteck! *watches for slap from Amy (my gf)*

I thought today's MINI Meet was a great success! Dave picked out a great route to Motor, and my first experience at Kart 2 Kart was very fun! (don't mind I posted this quickest lap time of our group )
Check the Yahoo MMMC album for some pics!
Cheers,
Ryan
