The response has been strong so far, I think we will get enough signed on... we're gonna have a terrific time. Everyone remember to bring your cameras! Alex is great to work with, I've gotta remember to ask him if he's driving the MCS I've seen in the TTR's parking lot...

CooperBeagle - is the $20 cost per Mini or per driver? I'd like to go - but there will be two of us driving one Mini (if I can get my father to come with) - will this present a problem? Both of us have autocrossed before.

$20 per registered driver. (Sorry.) And, you can run the course with a passenger only if that person is registered. It's the insurence guys... every story needs a bad guy, we'll make them it. Hope you come, it's gonna be fun, the response has been strong! I'll be at a BMW autocross this weekend, picking up pointers!

CooperBeagle,
I sent my registration in already but might bring a passenger for the auto-x. Can I register the passenger at the event?

Yes, you can register the-day-of. But we need the pre-registrations to do the autocross. We have 25 in so far, that means we're gonna have plenty of Minis to have a great time! We still need more to cover the costs, I think we're gonna, make it... come on, send 'em in SOON! Get your registration form at: geocities.com/southbendmini

IMPORTANT UPDATE!!! The South Bend Mini Event will be held without the autocross. We were not able to arrange for a better insurance package, and fell short of the 50 pre-registrations required. All who registered for the autocross event will get their checks back. WE ARE STILL HAVING AN OCTOBER 4th EVENT!!!
Our new, (loose) agenda:

9-10:30 AM -- Meet at The Tire Rack, meet Mini owners, meet Alex, tour (parts) of this amazing performance facility.

10:30-Noon -- Road Rally Course, includes Notre Dame campus

Noon-2:00PM -- Lunch at Hacienda Mexican Restaurant at the historic Kamms mansion. http://www.haciendafiesta.com Order off the regular menu, all your food will be FREE! For your margaritas, Coronas, whatever-you-want-to-drink, you are on your own.

Come share a wonderful autumn day with Mini enthusiasts!

Wow. This is really really weak. I am absolutely certain that there were a number of people who were late getting their registrations in the mail and/or just planning to sign up the day of the event. So how short were we? If you got 10 registrations in the mail tomorrow would it be back on? I wish there would have been some sort of last minute heads-up to get the registrations in or risk cancellation...on Friday it sounded like a sure thing!

Yeah I'd also be very interested in hearing how many we were short. CooperBeagle - is there anything the Chicago MINI Club can do to help here. Shoot me an email if you prefer: gabriel@bridger.us

I'd really like to see this happen.

I would not object to paying a little more if necessary, typical BMWCCA Auto-x is 25, but whats even 30 bucks to drive on a beautiful track (so im told, cant wait to see...)

Hopefully Alex can pull through!

I need new tires too, so I am really hoping that this happens.

Guys, I'm OK with moving our Mini event to October 19th. We still haven't got it together for the 4th. I will talk to Alex by phone today. I'm traveling today, so I'll ask Alex to post on it. The Solo II event will not be as "laid back" as we were trying to put together, but I'm sure it will be exciting! --Jeff

I'm pretty sure I can't do the 19th. Also FYI it looks like there is still at least 4-5 people from the Chicago club willing to go down there on the 4th for the tour etc. There maybe more but that's just the people I've spoken to.

October 19 will be our autocross event. Many have indicated that the chance to zip through the cones on TTR's track is the main attraction and this date change allows us to have an autocross this year. Our apologies to those not available on this new date. ALL registration checks will be mailed back to you. (We will be able to pay for the autocross the day of the event.) We'll still do t-shirts, have some lunch brought in, road rally when we're all off the track, and Alex may even have some surprizes for us!

God speed.

(Gotta change the sig)
