Jamestown Run: Gateway to the Motherlode!

When: Saturday, July 30 8 a.m.
Where: Meet at Starbucks in River Park(next to Bagel shop).
What: Jamestown is a small Gold Rush town located in Tuolumne county on Highway 108/49 and is the first town you arrive at when visiting Tuolumne County. Jamestown is situated in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Its Main Street is lined with shops full of visitors from around the world on weekends. There are antiques, original art, steam train rides, gifts, souvenirs, and you can even pan for gold.

We can grab some lunch upon our arrival there and check out Main Street and head home that afternoon.

Estimated time for this run is approximately2 1/2 hours one way(according to Mapquest). It's approximately 125 miles from Fresno. Robert handed out maps at our meeting in June, but here's a link to the mapquest site.

Hope to see everyone there!
Michele

You can collect me in Oakhurst when you get there. I have a pair of radios now so you can wake me up when you drive by.

Hey all,

won't be able to make this run. I will be drinking bloody mary's on the strip in Vegas when you are at Starbuck's.
Its a great run though, ive done it before. See you all at the meeting.

Hey everyone,

Count me in!

I'm hoping that there are more people planning on making this run than have replied to this thread.

No matter, it will be great.

Steve, We'll probably meet you at Railey's if that is OK with you.

Robert.

Well, this was certainly quite a run! We even spotted a random MINI along the way.

The roads were certainly cool.

Next time I'll get more than two hours of sleep before attempting this long a drive.

Thanks, Juan for the pictures and being there at all. Five MINIs showed up; two Coopers and three S's. It was a perfect day with a deep blue, cloudless sky. Temperatures were high (95-100), but that's what A/C is for. There wasn't too much traffic so we were able to have fun on the twisties and watch the MINIs go fast. We stopped to look at the views and had lunch at the National Hotel in Jamestown after we walked the town. This area has many historic gold-mining towns and is very rustic. We saw one MINI conv and I flashed my lights as they waved. A good time was had by all.:smile::smile:

This was a very nice run. I'm glad I had the chance to see Jamestown, a place I may not otherwise give a 2nd thought to visiting. I only wish more people would have joined us.

Glad you guys had a fun drive. Hope you had a good day in Vegas Brad. I took a 9 day vacation and drove from Tahoe to Vegas and then from Vegas to Sac this last week... I saw a electric blue MCS on the road and thought it looked familiar maybe it was you. I was a passenger in a t-bird so I didn't wave.

I drive Hwy 99 Mondays and Fridays between Modesto and Merced so you could have seen my car. I rarely see another MINI until I hit the Bay Area. They seem rather rare on the open road.

Weekend Run To JT

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for a great time.
Jamestown was really interesting.
Next time up we should check out Columbia, just up the road.

The roads were freshly paved for us.
The sun made them hot and sticky, which made for faster times.
I had a blast.
Just don't let me lead again until I've had more practice!... Ha!

Juan, I really appreciate you being there. Especially on only 2 hours sleep.
The pictures are great!
With your permission maybe we could use one for our Club Cards?

Take care, I'll see you all on the 19th.

Best regards, Robert.

Well, since I lead the way out I thought you would be able to find the way back. We should have left more skid marks to follow home. Besides, we got to see some different scenery on the way back.
