MidCal MINI Camping Trip: September 18-19th
Hello all....Diane speaking
As in Tina's recap of the last meeting at Nick and Shelly's, I was tossing around the idea of a camping trip to Camp Edison at Shaver Lake on Friday/Saturday, September 18-19. As many of you know, I rode with Kevin on the River Run and we started brainstorming about how fun it would be for all of us to try camping together. Several of you mentioned having ski boats and/or day cruisers and jet skiis so I think we would have a blast! We could all chip in to cover the cost of gas.
Go to www.sce.com/communityandrecreation/campedison/ - and click on the camp site map, sites/rates and the reservation info. I was looking at sites 127,128,129,130 in Elderberry and 40,46,47G,101 and 102 right next to it, depending on of course, how many of us sign up. The sites fit from 2 to 4 tents @ $32-$39 each night. We can pair up however works best. Shaver is not so far up that it would be easy if some of you could only come up for 1 night or even just for the day. After we decide on a date, we can get together to plan a great food strategy. For example, do we eat breakfast at our own sites, or maybe get together and have the men fix it for all of us one morning
Yummy....personally, I like that plan!!!!!!!!!!
We can only reserve dates by mail or fax...not even up there in person, so please read the reservation info as they are very strict about changes or cancellations. In other words, it will COST us if we aren't definite
I am hoping that since it will be after school starts, whatever sites we decide on will be available but who knows! The sooner we reserve, the better chance we have. All we can do is try.
So what do you think? Sound like fun? The fun part will be seeing who can fit the most camping gear in his or her Mini
Do I hear a possible contest starting???? Traditional modes of transportation will be needed for sure!
Looking forward to your thoughts!
Diane

Sounds like a blast. We are up for it and will plan on dragging the boys with us. At this point, I think either weekend will work. We have a ski boat and all types of skiis, if anyone wants to learn or if they already know how. We also have a towable and I know Jim would love to try fling Joe out of it!
Yep....about an hour down the hill
I think bringing a queen airbed is about as close as you will get! We have one if you would like to borrow it. No wait....I will be using it

Ok. I will keep a total of who cannot go on what dates. So far, one car out for the 11th. Thanks so much for responding. Depending on how quickly everyone gets back to me, I will set a date soon for an RSVP deadline.
Looking forward to the Pop-Tarts

Since my buddy Kevin is my partner in crime for planning this trip and he cannot go on the 11th, then I would like to take that date off the table. Let's see how many of us can make the 18th as our only date.
What no "twinkies"?
What fun is camping without junk food??
The trip looks fun but this one is out for us. To many upcoming plans that can't be changed. Next time though.

You all missed out on a fun weekend at Shaver Lake! We had a nice, relaxing time in the cool weather right along the lake. We had a nice campfire, and lots of hearty camping food and junk food. Thank you Robert and Diane for the hard work and planning. Looking forward to going again next year.
