Anybody home????

Has everyone moved on to the other place? This place has been good to us with info, MINI spirit & fellowship, but I think we need to be in one place & not two. It's hard enough to get out the news of things we do here, let alone here & there.

I know heavy handed moderation has driven some away, but that seems to have eased a bit & now the great cootie scare of Nov 2010 may have moved the rest.

The other place is the Alliance Motoring. Well say it backwards.

Roll call, who wants to pack up & move?

Bueller....

The name of that site is forbidden on this one. Google the what I said backwards.

This is what I mean. Some folks here, some folks there, some here & there. Confusing isn't it.

Lol!!
Like you signature!!
Sad thing is thses sites are pretty complementary...and cross pollination between sites can only help the entire community!!! Maybe managements hand will be a bit looser cause of "events" that occured earlier...
Either way, I like the ability to try to refer folks to a thread with useful info on a different site, when the info is not present here!! That's what I do, and so far, I haven't taken any crap for it. I donut sparingly, understanding the competive realities of places needing to make $$ to pay for bandwidth. It is a narrow tightrope that the mods must walk, heck some are better than others, but as we saw, when sites have issues, the masses find new places to congergrate!!

I agree with you Zippy. These sites can either help each other & the MINI owners who use them or dilute each other. On the other forbidden site you can link to a thread here to help someone find an answer. If you are here you can not do that.

See what I mean... http://www.*********************/forums/mid-ohio-motoring/4938-november-drive.html

I just do not understand this. Is NAM afraid of Alliance Motoring? If they are why would that be??? Hmmm....

Yeah it is a crying shame!!
Or thing I don't like here is that the regional forums are setup and named like the local club sites...IF I tell some to got to the http://www.massmotoringclub.com/ site...they could think I mean https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ring-club-251/
Massachusetts Motoring Club...they have a board here with the same name....HMMM..
but it is NOT the same!!!

Often I have a thread that can really help a person, but I am never really sure they went to the right place to search for it!! I'm here cause I want to REDUCE folks frustration, not increase it!!

Oooo, what "events" are you talking about? What'd I miss? Please shovel some dirt my way, I wanna know!

I don't think it was the website coootie thing, though that knocked down traffic for a while, sometime those things happen.

I'm here a few times a day, I haven't noticed any heavy handed moderation, where was it?

Personally I see no problem with the forum guide lines, every site has them & needs them. At one time they were administered fairly. Although once this site was sold to commercial interests things changed & in very many ways not for the better. It got to the point where guidelines were administered with an absolute iron fist. I do not care to relive the past.

Things have eased up here a lot, but along the way a lot of folks were treated not so nice. Many left, some didn't & are contemplating moving away too. It is a sad situation for sure.

New folks don't know the history of this split & that might be for the best. I'll just say there are two very good & useful MINI forums. This one & the forbidden site. Forbidden by the powers that be here. The fact that both seem to effect each other in a negative way is sad. Although I have to say that other site seems to have made an effort to at least live & let live.

As for my own interests. I just want fellow MINI owners to be able to stay in contact so they can help each other & share in the MINI fun. Splitting us between two sites sure is not working toward that goal. I'd love an easy solution to that problem.

That is a very good analogy Jason. What's that old saying divide & conquer. Who is the conquerer? Maybe the SMART car forum.

How was NC TN last weekend?

The fact this thread is open, public, still unlocked, and unmolested by the mods prove the management is a bit more laid back thesedays...perhaps out of need?
A bit of competition does help the consumer, cause all the product brought to market tends to be better because of it!!
Now if we can just get a treaty of sorts...the other site allows posting of this sites name...maybe this place can allow it too. Seems like for some this will be like a Coke/Pepsi debate!!

It was a great time, I didn't know that you knew about it, I guess you are god. The roads down there were so much fun and we had a ton of cars there. The weather was perfect for the cars. Nice and cool and only a few break downs. I really like driving on the Snake. I didn't get a sticker for the car and I regret that.

I didn't want to bring it up since some cars were not aloud to make it. I have some pictures and video of it. I put the pictures up on the como facebook page but I haven't done anything with the video yet. I know you don't do facebook. I will share them with you some other way. I don't have the video done yet because I had to Drive to New Jersey on Monday the day after I got back for work.

Well, Take it easy and maybe I will make it to the first Wednesday of third Saturday if work doesn't get in the way.

I have no problems with folks at a classic Mini gathering not wanting BMW MINIs to crash the party. Their party & their call.

Me I am not a car snob. All are welcome at any non-event that I may do. Although I ask folks with Buick's to drive in the rear.

We were so close to you guys. We saw a Riley Elf on our way to Johnson City TN. You have to love that part of the world. God's country for sure.

I've been MIA for a long time, but it hasn't been bc I've been on the forbidden site, just super busy! (I guess expecting a new addition to the family in Feb does that!)

I personally don't care for the other site, but that's just my opinion. That and I don't have time to look through the great stuff here and then move to a new site and look there too... I do have to agree that the mods here banning a website that isn't a threat to their servers or to their "customers" is a bit outrageous. I don't know of other sites that do this but maybe that is just blissful ignorance.

Anyways, I hope to see MOM still have a presence here and we might even make it to a breakfast in sometime before winter sets in...

Both sites seem fine to me. The problem I have is most everyone has migrated to the other place. I see no sense in posting things in this Mid Ohio forum here. No one is reading it. I'm too lazy to post there & here, so there it is. If you want to keep up with what is happening locally check the Mid Ohio forum on the forbidden site.

Tell Ang I said hello...

Yeah, each site does have it's own personality....
This one tends to have more newbies (mostly thanks to Google and the sheer number of pages kept here I bet), and many less experanced non gear-heads....nothing wrong with that, but sometimes a ton of repetitive questions, and few "new" ground getting broken...sometimes it does get boring, but I still think it is good Karma to help my fellow Mini driver....I do get a few laughs from folks that try to do "rice" style mods, and just blow their $$, or even do harm...but to each his/her own.
The forbidden site seems to have lots of the more hardcore users...more performance minded, and less about the bling of having the mod....
There is certainly a notch for both IMO, just like Coke/Pepsi...sometimes one is better, sometimes the other.

I venture to both over the course of a few days, choosing to view "New Posts" to see what I may have missed.

Does that make be a bad person???
