Merry Christmas.....
Did Santa bring you a new D700 Chuck? I only got gun and motorcycle stuff (my latest avocations) Soninlaw is just getting into serious photography (Canon DSLR of course) and he was like a little kid with the filters and flash accessories he received. Not quite the same as having small kids, but close.
BTW, he wrecked their triple black MC and they have been using our X3 in Cleveland where they now live. They said we wont be seeing the X3 until spring!

No D700 for me. I'm hoping for a D300 for my B day.
Our boy got a new Fender (guitar) & played sweet music for us.
Glad that no one was injured in the MC wreck. Heck it's only a car & can be fixed.

Still, my Dell can eat it's lunch.
Figured since I missed the "allowed" time for a Merry Christmas, I'd send an early Happy New Year!!
(o, and any time you want to have that MacBook Air disappear Matt...just send me a PM and I can find someone to "take care of it" for you

Probably not QUITE as small, thinness-wise, but I'd be OK with that. the AIr is super thin and light, it's true, and the metal case is cool... I'm just not a Mac guy. I keep running into BS like remote hard drives that it tells me need to be reformatted and whatnot, and the constant hasle is wearing on me I'm afraid.
That's not a normal Mac thing to have happening Matt. You shouldn't get those kind of messages. I've got all kinds of hard drives and I never get told to re-format.
I've got one external hard drive that it won't even recognize (Win Vista has no issues) and a second that can read from the drive but not write TO that drive. the "geniuses" at the Mac store said that they needed to be reformatted (for whatever that's worth). People on Mac forums are no help - their stock answer is that "hard drives made for PCs are obviously peices of junk" and I'm advised to buy a Mac-brand hard drive (which, of course, costs 50% more than a similar device for a PC). Don't even get me STARTED on the whole cult of personality that you have to deal with any time you have to go into the Mac store with a question or even a HINT of any question that disparages their Beloved Brand... ((( shakes head )))
PCs certainly aren't perfect, but at least they're not perceived to be anything more than machines.
OK, I'll end the thread-jack - anyone who wants to talk turkey on a barely-used Air PM me. I will say that it's GREAT for watching films on the airplane on trips... provided you rip your DVDs to the hard drive first.

If you just got yours then the return policy should still be in effect (hint hint). And since Mac's so famed for their customer service they should be more than willing to waive that restocking fee, right? (( cough cough )).
What forum says that hard drives are for Mac only? That's goofy info. Firewire is firewire, USB is USB, SATA is SATA. The only difference is when you format the drive to your particular OS. And if I get a USB drive at say Best Buy, it's not 50% more if I use it on my Mac. Mac brand hard drive? Was this a forum from 1993 talking about SCSI drives?
Any drive I own in 2008 will work with a Mac or PC, but when I buy one to use with my computer I format it to my OS. That just kinda I don't know, makes sense. What makes you think automatically that a Vista formatted drive should work flawlessly with the Mac OS? I wouldn't think a Mac formatted drive would work flawlessly with Vista.
Yeah some Macheads are cultish but I get some of the same responses, looks and disparaging comments from PC people about Macs.
