Installing front grill badge plate

I bought the badge holder from Outmotoring and was going to give it a stab to install, I popped the bonnet open, and pulled out the 4 plastic fastners and then I was like "CRAP!!!" I have the driving lamps installed!!! The grill will move forward about 1.5 inches before it hits into the lamps - Plus it looks like I might have to drill through the black plastic sheild behind the grill? Am I off base here or anyone with some experience putting one of this on ( I have the longer bolts from OM as well.

suggestions? and thanks in advance!

Sorry I can't help you out. I have an R53 which has a different grill than yours.

I'd call Aaron at Outmotoring on Monday morning. I'm sure he can walk you through the problem.

Unfortunately, you will need to detach the DLs in order to install the badge holder. You may get away with just loosening them enough (so that they fall forward) to get the grill out a bit farther but it is still a tight squeeze. I found it was easier and quicker to just bite the bullet and remove the DLs from their brackets. Just pull the grille and install as normal.
I would recommend reading this prior to attempting the DL removal plus it will aid you with re-aming the DLs after.

Just installed mine and have a few tips. First, dont try to remove grille entirely as the clips at the bottom are brittle. My soninlaw broke his trying to remove the grill. Also, I gave up trying to use the supplied mounting backing plate. I cheated by installing the two screws and then using two pieces of stiff wire attached to each screw and twisted together behind the grille. Didn't have to drill the grille and it is very secure.
