Hello to all my fellow Mid-Ohioans
Hello to all my fellow Mid-Ohioans
I've got a Mini on order. Actually, it's in Charleston right now, just got off the boat. I'm guessing it should arrive here next week.
It's a pepper white with a black roof MCS with the JCW engine kit and black sport stripes. Bought it at MAG from Johnny Wilson.
I'm having the windows tinted which is causing me a lot of concern. I want the rears to be relatively dark but not the side windows. Went with 45 on the driver and passenger door windows and 35 on the rest. Anyone out there have tinting like that?
Looking forward to seeing some of you on the road.
Pete

I have a PW as well and mine is 35 all the way around except the windshield. I think PW's look darker simply because they are a light color so the dark window looks even darker. Last night I was parked next to a very nice looking Purple Mini with the same tint and mine looked darker. I also think there was a PW with the same set up you are considering and it looked really ncie as well.
And be sure to wave when you see us!

Welcome Pete! I have had 50% tint on a white car and was never satisfied with it, but that was 50% all around. If you come to the breakfast this Saturday you can take a look at my 38% tint and Mark's 50% if he is able to make it. Unfortunately, Allen won't be there (something about a noble quest to slay a dragon for his fair princess), so you won't be able to see what 35% looks like on PW.
Congrats on your new MINI. I also have a PW, it's a great color.
Concerning your tinted windows, does anyone know what % is the limit here in Ohio? A few years ago I owned a Porsche with tinted windows that I had to remove the tint because it was too dark.

I believe that 50% is legal on the front two windows and then you can go as dark as you want on the back windows.
Hi Kimini03,
I'm having it done at Mr. Tint. MAG is going to take it down there as soon as it comes in (which is supposed to be 5/19) and have it done. Apparently, MAG uses two companies to do tints. They claim Mr. Tint does a much better job but is a bit more expensive. I don't mind the extra money if the job is done well.
I looked at your gallery. What is that first car? It says Mini but it looks more like a Z to me.
Now that I've placed my order I'm starting to notice all the Minis on the roads around Columbus. It will be fun to wave at them in my MCS. I'm curious... is there a special greeting? Blinking lights or something?

A simple wave should do the trick, but at times some flashing of the lights followed by a wave won't hurt, either. Some owners are really into the wave, while others look at you as if you are nuts. Don't let those non-complying boneheads bother you...just do your waving and enjoy your great little car!

I didn't even know you could have tint done through MAG! Hope you don't mind me asking, but how much did they quote you? I agree quality is worth more money for a job done right! We had our first Mini (Indi Blue '03 MCS in Gallery) tinted at Quality Window Tint on Morse Road. They did a fantastic job!!
In the gallery that is my husband Jason's former 2006 350Z. We got rid of our 03 MCS. We bought it used and had a lot of problems with it. I don't think the former owner took very good care of it.
We wanted to go to the Mini Mornins Breakfast and detail clinic provided by Ted for the Griot's products last year, but we didn't have a Mini. Chuck (Crashton) joked with us that Jason's car was a counterfeit MINI. http://www.counterfeitmini.org/ So we posted that picture to show how a counterfeit Mini 350Z could look!!!
We just ordered a MCS last week and hope to have it by the end of June! Hopefully we will be at a Mini event before we know it!! The wait is not fun
It is so much fun waving and getting waved back at in your MINI!!
There is really no standard wave. Just what ever you like! I personally like to wave like a crazy person
While Jason is a little more reserved! Others give a nod, flashlights, ect!Look forward to waving at you soon! (Sorry for the long post! Hope I didn't put you to sleep!)

I'm trading a Miata in on the MINI so I'm familiar with the wave to other owners and how it makes you feel when you don't get one in return. Actually the MINI is replacing 2 of our cars. I just sold our 330i BMW as well. It just wasn't getting driven enough so we decided to replace the Miata with the MINI and sell the BMW. My wife is keeping her Jeep so at least we will be down to 2 cars and I'll have a place in the garage for the MINI. The BMW was a 2004 and only had 6600 miles on it... see what I mean about not driving it enough?
