Another "Newbie"

Hey all, I'm new to the Columbus area, but not to the MINI world. I've been an active member for 3 years in the New England area. I'm on my second MINI - late build 2006 HB/W MCS with premium, sport, cold weather packages, HK sound (and Alta 2.0 15% pulley, Pilo intake, Detroit Tuned SC bypass valve, One-ball exhaust mod, H-Sport 25mm rear sway bar, M7 front strut tower brace).

I currently still work in Massachusetts, so I'm only in OH about once a month to visit my wife. I'm still looking for a job here that suits me.

Welcome bjl ...... =)

I see you have the nicest color MINI available. That is a rare color in these parts & it will be nice to have another around here. If you are around on April 19 stop by for some breakfast with a bunch of nice MINI owners.

Glossary:
Silverback = Old Fart with a hairy back
Weedhopper = Young fart
Significance of donuts = Silverback food
LAME = Lazy A$$ MINI Enthusiast

Welcome to the club bjl. I'm glad to see that you have a R53 because I'm beginning to feel that our club is slowly getting dominated by R56's. HB is my favorite 05'+ MCS color and I like your supporting mods also.

You've probably already checked out the other threads in the Mid-Ohio Motoring Club forum but.... we usually have a monthly breakfast at Tim Hortons in New Albany then head across the street to Out Motoring. AND we occasionally go to a track day at Nelson Ledges in NE Ohio, a couple British Car Shows, a few of us autox during the summer, etc.; it's a fun time. Good luck on getting a job around Columbus.

SLOWLY was the key word.... 5+ in a year is fairly quick, though, given the economy and all.

Since every new MINI from now on will be an R56, yep we are going to see more of them. That's all right with me. They are MINI's after all. In fact I like to see any nice car. Bring your Superlite or your Miata or your Boxster or your ___. Love them all.

Funny you should say that I had a dream last night that my Mini got replaced with a Mazda RX8 my only thought was I would miss the Mini guys and gals if I ever got another car. Who was it that got rid of theirs and brought their Z to the detailing day? I always liked that couple they were fun.

Well, don't I feel special??? One of the few foxes in the group AND I have a [beautiful, extraordinary, growly, loud, mean, and occasionally rattling] R53 -- with low mileage.
Too bad there aren't any icons here that pat the smilie faces on the back...

Allen, RX8's are great cars. I'd love one, but I'd hate the apatite for fuel it has. If you get one I want to take it for a drive.

Carol take that MINI out & put some miles on it. Who are you saving it for? The next owner? Driving to NC, TN will be very good for it.

Too bad there are no donut eating silverback smilies.

Let me guess, all the LAME Silverbacks are converting to the R56s because they feel squishy, they are quiet inside, the clutch pedal is light, and the shifter feels like mush.

Well actually it seems that weedhopper R56 owners out number us R53 owners. No problem for me. I like both cars. I'm not one to get into, my car is better than yours discussions. Like I've said I like them all.

Motor on

Well I hope you see one more R56 real soon... The Owners Lounge has my MINI at the VDC this morning and MAG has come up with more bucks for my trade-in So, things are moving in the correct direction again!!

BTW lets not forget to tell our new members about our web site www.MidOhioMotoring.com I hope to up date it over the weekend with pictures from last Saturday's events... I have a few pictures from Tim's and Crachton says I can use some of his... I need to email Matt to ask to use some of his from the parade... I would really like to put the MINI in the snow pictures up on there too... if that would be okay? Love that ZIG ball shot!!

No, but those would be very cool on a dark grey MINI.

"Earl Grey" is a dark silver R56 MCS with red mirror caps. The owner lives on my street (in Columbus). I've seen the boot and bonnet open throughout this week.

Does it have a red roof too? If so I saw that car this week. He's not a waver. At least not to me.

If it is the dark grey with a red roof that guy has come to a couple of our events and knows some guys I work with, I can not immagine why he would not wave at you Chuck

If not could this be a GP? grey with red caps sounds like a GP to me.

I'm not sure. The front plate was mounted off of the tow hook attach point.

It's not a GP because it was a R56.

Oh you really can't tell by the mirror caps anymore. People are dumping their chrome ones for blue & even PW for orange.
