Outmotoring Moving :(

Not sure if everybody gets the Outmotoring newsletter (if you don't you should). It looks like Outmotoring is moving down south. We need to do something to send them off in style, maybe a buying spree!

I just read it and I'm bumbed Aaron and Andrea have been the heart of the MINI family in Central Ohio and their absence from Breakfasts, The Lube and just hangin' out will be missed. It's like my favorite candy store closing...it's just not the same shopping on-line as it is going to Outmotoring and making the coveted impulse buy but then again, it's good to see they will get back close to family....sounds like a ROAD TRIP

Of course I'm completely joking and trying to laugh off a sad situation in my immature ways. I'm hoping Aaron will give us more details about how sudden he plans to do this at the upcoming breakfast.

I guess we can look forward to a Mid-Ohio Motoring Club road trip to wherever Aaron, his family, and Outmotoring relocates to; especially if it's during a cold Ohio winter.

I almost missed it in the newsletter and did a double-take. Sad for the local MINI family, but hopefully good for the Cornaby family.

Not a good day for the Ohio Mini community...first I read about Aaron and Andrea moving and then I read that Mark has sold NAM to the big boys which (regardless of what is being presented) will change the forum from the close knit environment to the over advertised and popped-up commercial forum IMO. I too, Chuck, am at a loss for words

While I am sad to see Outmotoring go, I truly wish Aaron and Andrea the best.

Chuck, don't you need some place to store all of your sets of tires, sounds like there may be a building available to rent in the near future across the street from TH. It could also be used as a Silverback clubhouse!

Looks like we're going to have to split off the MidOhioMotoring site form Outmotoring's... What a bummer.

Best of luck to you, Arron, though - I know you'll do great, as usual!

Yes best of luck to our friends Aaron & Andrea.

Matt I didn't realize this site was somehow tied to Outmotoring. Or that Mid Ohio Motoring is. Could you explain how that is in easy to understand silverback terms?

JW34, does this mean we will all be driving Scion's soon?

I'm just hoping that the same "design sensibility" shown there does not spill over onto NAM.

THIS forum is part of NAM and is not under Outmotoring control.

MidOhioMotoring.com, however, runs on Outmotoring's box and is 100% under Aaron's control, as is the Mini Morin' mailing list as well as the monthly newsletter that goes out.

Because we have no club dues or officers, Aaron bears the cost of MidOhioMotoring as an advertising write-off (I assume). Good thing because there's no other money to use to pay for the domain registration, web server or design fees. With Aaron exiting the mid-Ohio region, we'll need to decide how we want this handled going forward.

Who actually put together (designed/html) the current Mid Ohio site? Aaron? It would be interesting to find out who the domain is registered with and for how long. At least initially it comes down to server space and getting it transferred over.

Aaron owns everything for MidOhioMotoring.com as far as I know, and is 100% responsible for the page coding and design. I personally have NO interest in ensnarling myself in the whole web site/domain name thing (been there, done that and don't have the time or willpower to get into it again), so hopefully a MoM member has those skills, since we have no $ to hire the work out.

I'd be willing to at least investigate what is involved in changing things over. I'm not a web whiz but know enough to get into trouble. Maybe there's someone in the group that can offer or knows where to get server space. I'll ask Aaron about the domain.

Is the sky is falling ???

Thanks for your explanation Matt. It is a bit hard for me to understand as you didn't use silverback verbiage.

Please bare with me. As I seem to understand it Aaron owns it & as it's his he will take it with him. If you are referring to the monthly e-mail flyer that Aaron sends out, while it was nice to get the reminders, I believe it was marketing for Outmotoring. If that goes away we should still be OK. We still have this forum to use. Or are you saying this forum is his??

I think forming a Yahoo group would work well too. Free is good.

Yeah the newsletter is a different animal. The MidOhio.com site itself has 2 parts. One is the name itself which gets registered with a domain service. Then it is "pointed" to wherever the actual site resides. Which is probably where Aaron has the Outmotoring site. So the physical site can be moved or re-designed and the name just needs to get pointed to it so when someone types it in, the site shows up. If the domain has time left on its registration no money is involved, you just type in numbers to re-point it. We'd have to find out this info from Aaron.

Also- Woohoo, I'm in 5th gear!
