I had it done on my MC a year ago and it cost almost $500. THAT's when I stopped taking the Cooper to the dealer and started taking it to Waylen, instead. Fortunately, my MCS is still under warranty and hasn't reached the first one yet.

I took a "pass" on Service II at MAG when they quoted me $550. For my money, they were going to:
  • Replace v-belt (per manual)
  • Change oil & filter (per manual)
  • Inspect "stuff" (brakes, engine for leaks, etc.)
  • Reset service light (per manual)
  • Change air filter (per manual)
  • Change cabin filter (per manual)
  • Change spark plugs (not per manual - due at 100K)
Instead, I had them do: the oil change. I also had them do a coolant flush and a brake/master cylinder flush. These aren't in Service II, but the manual does call for these about this time. MAG didn't notice that these items were due.

I didn't have them do the v-belt and air filter, because I am doing/having done a pulley upgrade and an intake. I figure I could replace the microfilter in the cabin, and I reset the light following the technique online (because MAG wouldn't do it).

My damage for oil, coolant, and brakes was about $300, and I felt like I got my money's worth.... something I didn't feel at $550.

I had a similar issue with the brake flush they said it was too far away to do it at that service, but I should bring it in before the next scheduled service. Of course I had an issues a couple weeks later and they were able to do the flush then.

I was suprised when I checked my 05 MCS that the previous owner was smart enough to take to take it in and have the yearlys done as well as a brake flush just two weeks before trading it in ...all the services were done on low miles basis as it was 15K when I bought her

That has to make you feel good. Nice to know your MINI was well cared for.

Bad venge, was your MINI serviced at Classic MINI in Mentor?
Where did you purchase your MINI?
Where do you plan to have it serviced in the future?
I live in Uniontown and have been travelling to Mentor to have my '04 MCS serviced.

Yes It was nice to see all the services up to date when I signed in at the Owners Lounge , as well as the BMW dealer I bought it at ... Yes It was bought/serviced at Classic, I found it at BMW Cleveland ... I'm figuring oil changes as I've done my Rover , buy filters take it to the quick lube .. Brakes Ect I can do , but might let the dealer to avoid warranty grief ...

I would strongly recommend not going to any Quickie Lube place like Iffy Lube. The filter is a bit fiddly to do & most likely beyond Quickie Lubes abilities.

I DIY my oil changes, but I'm sure someone up your way could recommend a competent garage. There is always the dealer, but they are pricey.

My "quick lube" is run by a friend and an ASE certified mechanic ... Hell he even cut the lip down on the pit so my show car will fit over it (2 1/2" of ground clearance)
