Mid-Ohio Vintage Races '07

Hi,

We are planning on going on Saturday, June 30th. Anyone else? Would be nice to meet some more friendly mid-ohio mini folks. Nelson's was great.

Never been to those races, any tips or tricks?

thanks,
Kim

I'm going for sure on Friday & possibly on Saturday too. No tips just take time to walk through the paddock area & enjoy the sights. Some pretty wonderful machinery shows up. Oh & remember to charge the camera batteries.

Check out the Mid-Ohio webpage to see what prices you need to pay to do the carshow. Last year, the car show [popular vote] was on Saturday. On Sunday was a Concours event. On both days, participants could take a parade lap [speed controlled] around the track. Racing was limited to those with the proper equipment, licenses, and cars.

I'll be there!

Get a steak at the Brown Derby Roadhouse if you can.

Will you be driving it home from Jersey? Road trip!!! Great way to bond with your new Mini.

If you are in town I can't think of a better place to drive a classic than the vintage races.

Can't wait to check out the new baby.

I'll see you there. I like to park in the infield by the Budweiser pedestrian bridge. Nice & shady.

I'm flat-bedding it, just to be sure. The seller states that it's capable of being a daily driver, but I want to break it in slowly and only drive it locally until I can have someone that really knows the car look at it. I know enough to check for obvious leaks, yogurt on the oil filler cap or dip stick, listen for certain obvious noises, etc. but I'm painfully aware of my limitations in this respect and driving it more than about 25 miles at a stretch until it gets a real lookingover makes me nervous. I'm probably worrying over nothing, but...

Not a bad idea to become acquainted on roads close to home. If you don't have AAA+ get it. The 100 miles of free towing could come in handy.

As for it being a daily driver, well Matt I have to tell you that most likely won't happen. At least not until you become a journeyman mechanic at trouble shooting.

Enjoy your new car. You'll have a blast.

Darn you, now I'm thinking of buying one.

I'm willing to learn, and a new skill like this is always a good thing to have. I figure I'll learn over time - hopefully with small(er) stuff. The car is only a '92 so it's not THAT old.... I'm definitely signing up for AAA though.

You know, once you learn your way around your new car you will be fine. If you carry a small tool kit & some very basic spares getting running again on the side of the road is not a big deal. Now if our modern MINI's stop on the side of the road there are only 2 things we can fix. 1, a flat tire & 2 out of gas. Other than that it's a rollback ride for us new MINI drivers.

Vintage races at Mid-Ohio tomorrow???

Man has this thread drifted off topic.....

Time to get it back on course.....

I'm leaving tomorrow morning at 7:30. If you'd like to go up together, meet me at Panera's at SR3 & Maxtown road at the appointed time. The Panera is behind Max & Erma's in Westerville.

PM me with any questions.

I'm also going up Saturday. The departure time is yet to be determined.

Well two Mid-Ohio Motorers are going.

B.A.D. is coming along with me.

If anyone wakes up & feels too sick for work , they've got the cure at Mid-Ohio. Even makes the old farts feel younger again.
