So my MINI is going Bye Bye. And so are his goodies.

I hate to get rid of it and I enjoyed it while it lasted. It was for sure an excellent handling and fun car but I'm craving AWD turbos again. I sold my 300hp WRX to get the MINI and now I'm going to try out the EVO8.

I posted some items in the For Sale section. Wheels/tires/intake n such.

I am researching the EVO8 right now...how do they drive? I've driven a lancer before but not the EVO8.

Nice choice. I hear that EVO is quick! Don't know how they get 278 hp out of a 2.0 liter engine....

I am curious which one is better..the STI or EVO? The Subbie boxer motor seems capable of putting a lot of hp out..I wonder about the EVO8. The last time I was at the track an EVO had a 1/4 mile time of 1/2 better then a STI but I don't know if he had any mods. It was a cold night and it was hitting around 12.70 in the quarter while the STI was in low 13.xx. But I've read the EVO handles better. Either way, they both were fast...

The EVO has been beating the STI for years in Japan (close but not THAT close). Check out some BestMotoring videos which you can get from www.ewacars.com

I like the STI and I've owned 2 Imprezas in the past but feel the drivers experience is much better in the EVO. The steering wheel is smaller and has a better feel. The shifter is so much tighter than the rubery lucky if you get it in gear Subarus. Replacing the shifter bushings on the STI is annoying and still doesn't improve it that much. Not to mention the EVO is much more nimble than the STI and really can out handle it. STI understeers like crazy still. Also real Recaros in the EVO that hug you. Subaru widened their seat for us fat americans and is kinda loose. The JDM Subaru seats are snug and are actually quite nice. I sat in a 22B a few years back. That steering wheel was nice also being made by Nardi. I love the Subarus but I've already dated them if you know what I mean. I might get the MINI again in 2007 when it comes with the BMW made turbo engine. Only if it also comes with an LSD up front.

Thanks for the info. I prefer a car with tighter steering feel and more nimbleness. I'm not in the market for one immediately but maybe in a couple of years I could be looking. If my prospect business works out then I would like another four door..and maybe still keep the coop because it is still a great car to drive.

So this isn't my car but it does look exactly like this. It's nearly broken in and it's ummm...pretty quick. It' a 2005 EVO MR in graphite gray with gunmetal BBS wheels.

AH, the MR...it's very trick. How do you like it so far? Did you pay MSRP or ?

I will probably get a regular EVO 8 because I want a sunroof. Stupid reason, I know. I went to the dealer on Sunday but I didn't drive one. I like weightless white...

Just thought I'd mention that a friend of mine has a EVO. He has put an additional $25K in to it and is now putting out 423hp to the wheels!
I'm not sure why anyone would want a $60,000 EVO but he has one!
