Greetings Philly Folk! I know that some people don't check out Mini2.com all that often (or at all) but I thought I would let everyone know that there is an Event being planned for a drive through the more interesting (and winding) parts of Philadelphia. It is being planned for the morning of August 10th (Sunday).

Here is the link to the conversation on Mini2

I am coming back east for this event. Sounds like they are planning a pretty good drive. Hope to see some of my Philly friends again!

Hamster! thank you so much for posting this here! I am such a goof for forgetting about minicooperonline! Someone told me about it when I first started to plan this event, then I got distracted. I think we're covered on MINI2 and MINIUSA. Thanks! hopefully, we'll get more response for the event!

I'll come out for this meet.

CooperSQT, I 'm the one who mentioned to you to post it on MCO. Driving Hamster beat me to the punch. Good Man!

I might actually be driving a Mini to this event. Keep your fingers crossed.

There is a thread on Mini2 about the date of this run being changed to Aug 24th.
Is this event date really going to be changed,or is it just wishful thinking?

Oilman,

I'm helping CooperSQT out with the mapping of the event. We're getting together for a dry run this Sunday.

As far as I know, it looks like we are going to keep the date on 10 August.

You can please some of the people, some of the time, but not all of the people, all of the time!!!

We have PLENTY of folks that have already put the 10th in their calendars. Hope you get your MINI back in time, wherever it's sleeping at the time.

Cheers.

Scott

Since we haven't much positive response to change the date, We're keeping the date for Philly's MINI Meet for 8/10 as planned. I suggest that Eric from Helix head up another discussion for a date to pay a visit. THAT would be very cool....

Hey Everyone,

Just spent 3 hours with CooperSQT on Sunday, mapping out the Philly Photo Safari, and it looks like it's going to be a blast!!! We wind our way through at least 10 neighborhoods, and even scoot over to Camden.

SQT's working out the final logistics, but it's shaping up to be a great half-day event, and if schedules permit, some lunch together afterwards!

Just a few of the salient drive-bys along the way:

30th Street Station
City Hall (twice)
Independence Hall
South Street
Rocky Statue
Camden Waterfront
Belmont Plateau
Memorial Hall
Main Street
Kelly Drive
Lincoln Drive

And a few other surprises along the way.

Cheers.

I'm going to be there either with a new Mini Cooper, or a old Ford Contour. I'm keping my fingers crossed for the Mini Cooper.

Looks like the weather will hold out after all for this weekend. It will be good to see the old Philly folks again.

Steve, I hope you get your car in time for the meet. I know you have been waiting a long time!

See you guys Sunday.

What a wonderful day! Thanks and a big shout-out to Julie and Scott, who planned. mapped, and led us all on a delightful rally through the City of Brotherly Love.

Jennifer and I have outdone ourselves this time!!

We have over 183 pictures we're uploading to shutterfly.

We'll send you a link as soon as we can!

Hello Everyone,

Well, I did it. After tooting around Philadelphia for 3/4's of the day with all of you, I then drove up to Wilkes-Barre for dinner with a friend, and just got back this morning!!! OK, so I'm obsessed with driving ZOE!! For those of you that were wondering, thank goodness I didn't take the motorcycle, the skies opened up a downpour on many miles of my journey!!

OK, a few thoughts and thanks....

JULIE and ED, what a pleasure it was working with you!! Great Rally, great friends and no-one got lost (well, expect for those few wrong turns in Fairmont Park!)!!!

TONY, so glad you made it home safe and sound! Our first Rally casualty! Now we know that the run-flats will go for at least 90 miles!

ALAN & JENNIFER, 183 photos??? My god, you are the shutter captains!! Can't wait to see all the pics!

JOHN, that's my MCS up front, along with the other MCS (sorry guys, forgot your names, but the guy that called in the Daily News was in that MCS!). What a great shot!

To the folks from Scranton, were you driving home this morning? Saw a LY/W MCS with white strips on the NE Extension around 8:15 or so, heading North. Right around the Allentown exit!! Gave you a hoot, but you were flying!!!

Now, as Julie had suggested, we had a few other recommendations over lunch for the next major Rally. Seems someone wanted a Cape May, NJ Rally, and someone else wanted a Route 7 Rally in Delaware. I suggest we combine the two, and cross the Delaware on the Lewes Ferry!!! Late October??? Who wants to take the lead??

One last plug, take a long week-end from 12-14 September, and join us to Cape Cod for a great ride, Scavenger Hunt, and a few other fun ideas!!!

Cheers, and see you all around.

To our long distance friends from MD & CT, hope you made it home safe and sound, and thanks for coming such a long way to meet new friends!

Scott

And,

While one can never be undone by the photographic proclivity of Alan and Jennifer, here are a few more for your viewing pleasure!!!
