Hello MINI peeps.
I is bored at school lol

So I got my FMIC on and bottom half of the M7 grill too.

But over the weekend I went to a drift event with some friends and now I want to get into it

Need drift car... kinda serious... I actually put up some parts for sale on the market place. Got my full TBE and FMIC up there for sale.

Haha, that's awesome. I've always dreamed about drifting when I was a teen. I was always caught in that Initial D, Touge and Form D stuff. Make sure you get a rear wheel drive with a LSD and some kick *** suspensions. Drifting ain't cheap though. Tires are a *****.

You can get a Miata or a 240sx for pretty reasonable money

Miata doesn't have much power. The 240sx is aging and needs work. The best "drift car in a box" car is the 350Z or 370Z. Great balancing, great torque, cheap price. I would probably start there

And Peter, I think you should do a mid mounted N54 to the rear wheels in the MINI

240sx is the ideal beginners drift car. Either the s13 or s14 are good choices depending on how much you wish to spend. Miatas can work (and do, I have proof) they just need a power boost, but really they are great stock too, both cars. Been looking into other avenues like a 300zx or a subi 2.5 rs for a rwd conversion, these are much less common.

350 and 370 are way too much money, especially for a beginner starting out, your bound to hit something.

Yes, July 9th will be another Driftspot event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, I will be there with at the least my camera again if not maybe a car.

You can find a 240 with the SR20 already swapped in for 4-8k pretty easily on craigslist. If I had gotten the job that I just applied for I would have bought one for myself in a couple months. If you are capable of such things, you can find high mileage autos for pretty cheap and so the manual and engine swap yourself, although thats stepping into serious work.

I have seen a handful of 300zxs pop up on CL too, although they are a little more expensive than a miata or 240 unless you get lucky.

yeesh, 4-8k is way more than I want to spend.

I'm trying to keep this whole project under 3k including a car. it can be a basket case for all I care, as long as it drives and I can slide it, it'll do for now. Once I'm sure that it's something I am going to seriously pursue i'll look into a nicer car.

An auto to 5 speed swap wouldn't be too bad, the friend I'm working on this with has a nice garage and selection of parts that we could work with.

yea, it's been a bit quiet around here lately.
I am going up to my place in Maine for the week actually. It's a moderate size motel that my family owns a operates but I've always wanted to do a MINI BBQ up there sometime.
We need to do a MINI Meet soon, it's been too long.

How does one go about getting approved for an account over at MMC? I tried, but was rejected for unknown reasons.

hey guys ive been running into a small problem with my r53 and maybe you can help me out.

my horn fuse keeps blowing intermittently. i assume there is a short to ground somewhere? i know one of my horns is dead because i unplugged each one at a time and only one works. can a dead or faulty horn cause this?

i was thinking of just switching to HELLAS anyway if this would solve my problem. i've never wired them up before so im not sure if those were a direct plug and play with the facory harness.

Classic mini!!!

I saw a classic mini for the first time the other day!! It was on Newbury St., I had to circle around again to get a better look :D

I just can't get over how small it actually is, even compared to my MINI. It's amazing how cars these days are just SO BIG!

Just got back from micro mini day at a museum in my area. Woo cool stuff! when I saw it was mini day i thought it would be full of mini coopers, there were a few of new mini, few classic mini (very cool) but all sorts of other mini type cars like the old fiat 500 and saabs etc. lots of fun. Made my car seem like a gas guzzeling behemoth!!

Soooooo I threw on some HELLAS horns on the mini today. LOVE THEM! Not sure if the fuse will keep blowing so we'll see if there was a short in the actual horns. I spliced into the factory harness for one of the horns into the new replay positive pin so i guess im assuming im still using the original circuit. but anyways, these things are awesome!
