Everyone,
Given the number of new threads in the Marketplace forum I have received feedback requesting that the forum be broken into sub-forums. Please visit this thread and weigh in on this idea. Thanks for the feedback!

I think it's a very good idea. It helps if you're looking for a car to not have to wade through all the posts.
Also, please excuse my ignorance if this is done, it would be helpful if "sold" items/cars could be removed or flagged in some way. I have read several posts before discovering that what I'm looking at has been sold.
Thanks!

Agrred either the poster can remove or edit as sold.

Personally I would not want to see multiple marketplace groups.
Nothing to stop people putting useful descriptions in the title to make it easier to find stuff - and nothing to stop people learning how to search either!
Maybe you could make "search this forum" more obvious - something like "search marketplace" highlighted at the top?

Marketplace subgroups
How about using different method to list items. In order to list an item you would have to use drop down menus to accurately represent the item. With the result being more information on the part listing. Then archive post say older than 20-30 days. Thus making the poster responsible to update the post if not already sold.

Unfortunately this would require a large amount of software development to the forum system to make it work well. Given this I think the best course is to first move to multiple sub-categories for Marketplace and then refine that as we learn what works and doesn't work.

New organization in effect
Everyone,
The new sub-categories for the marketplace have been put in place. Please be sure to read the announcement I've posted by clicking here to insure we move forward quickly with the transition to the new structure. We'll start off with the sub-categories and refine the process and organization as needed. Thanks for all the feedback and I hope you find the new organization useful.

I think this is key - I would perfer that the item is edited in the title "SOLD" as opposed to being removed - its nice to do a search and see what has been sold and at what price.

For whatever reason the software we use does not allow the thread creator to go back and edit the title of the thread. Given this I would recommend that the body of the post be updated so that it includes that the item has been sold. Something like *** This item has been sold *** (in bold) at the top of the body of the first post would work well.

Thanks

That being the case - create a 4th folder sold items - throw everything there so we can search it if desired.

Would it be possible for the "top" marketplace to still show all threads - ie: to conglomerate the sub-threads? You could not start a new thread there, but at least then browsers like me can still look in just one area instead of 2 or 3

Unfortunately there isn't a way to do this with our current version of software. If members would like to accelerate the cutover prior to the 15th I'm happy to do that as well.
