Yup, anyone in their right mind that did not already have a Whalen **** would have picked up this sweet piece!

Nice design, Twister! I had fun making a special design for MINIclo's birthday present this year that was given to her by a bunch of her favorite Dragonslayers! Working with Doug was great. We went through about 5 prototype images before perfecting the design

Will someone please enlighten me why the whalen shift **** is so great. I really don't understand, is it just a shift **** or what?

Yeah, just a shift ****. A pretty heavy all stainless steel shift ****. People find shifting smoother or something when they install one.

I'm not getting one, $150 is a lot, and its too damn cold here in Calgary to put my hand on a stainless steel ball. (its below freezing everyday when I start the car)

Except for the Canadian winter comments, that is exactly how I felt before I got mine.

$150 for a stupid shift ****????

Now I don't think I could enjoy motoring without it!

(It is instantly removeable if you must bring it in from the cold)

There are several aspects to its appeal. The Whalen **** is heavy, which reduces the notchy feel of the shifter, and the momentum of the weight makes it easier to do a fast shift. It is a very well made and high quality product. Significantly for the MINI culture, Doug will engrave it with any custom design. For me, an additional benefit is that it is smaller than the huge stock ****, and it is a better fit for my hand.

Pictures like these makes me want to get one Its so pretty! But I just can't get over the fact that it won't be too pleasent to touch in the sub zero weather here. There are some **** covers you can buy, but then the shifter **** won't look pretty :(

My car is garage-kept so it should keep things from getting too cold. As someone else mentioned, the locking collar mechanism is spring-loaded so if you were THAT worried about the temp variation felt from a cold metal **** versus the cold seats, steering wheel, etc. you can always take the **** inside with you at night. I just couldn't imagine being THAT worried about it though <G>.

Very nice Twister!!

Here is mine with the shot peen finish:

Must say I really like it. Does get a little chilly on a cold day but so did the stock one. Besides, this is truly a personalized touch to my MINI that I see while driving....

And, no, I have not scratched it yet.....
