I'm very interested in this item.

How tough would installation be for a novice wrench-turner?

It's a VERY easy install, about 1 hour your first time. There are a couple writeups, and I started a thread about a couple of the details.

Does this include the injectors which is part of the kit, or did you buy the kit to get the injectors and is now selling the airbox piece?

Spyke,

This is very tempting. I called Classic MINI to see if they had any in stock but the price scared me. I'm giving this some serious consideration. I'm Austin so the shipping wouldnt be much.

Well, I guess I can speak on behalf of Spyke (I have given him numerous ideas on what to mod next!) and after speaking with Spyke in Dallas personally, he did buy the entire kit from JCW including the injectors, and airbox (and for a little bit more got the airbox too)........so in the end he is getting rid of the JCW airbox (he already has the Madness) to help him buy lighter weight racing seats to get rid of his SPORT VERSION OF THE HEATED SEATS!

Ask him a price for those heated seats.........with all the mods he has on his car he NEED's to get rid of them.........

Sorry Bill, I just had to razz you on a more "public" forum for those 50lb a piece monsters holding you back........but not really holding you back.......

Cheers,

Unfortunately when I bought the airbox last month for $405, I didn't know that for $500 you could get the kit with injectors :(

That's good! Down here in Big D it's $560! [As for the CAI, I've got some offers on the table, but I'll post when I get $$$ in hand!]

Nope! Black 'n Gray Space Cloth. Click on the "garage" link below & there's an interior photo. NEVER use the damn things! Couldn't ever get used to my butt warming up while I'm driving! Rarely gets cold enough down here anyway!

From MY perspective, I'd say "Go for it!" But don't forget to calculate a 2 hour install into your budget for both injectors & CAI! & Make sure they're not charging extra for the required software...

That is the bummer part of it. 2 hours at 149 per hour. Thinking of doing this myself. What is the software part you mentioned? The functionality is not already there?

Whoa! Down here, the local dealers only charge $100 p/hr! No wonder they cut you some slack on the kit! The software is required to make proper use of the larger injectors. Otherwise, you'll be spraying extra fuel without getting efficient combustion & subsequent boost...(I'm told!... No engineer, here!) As far as I know, MINIUSA has cornered the market on this software. If you've already got an ECU upgrade (EVO, UNI, MTH), you might check w/ them to see if they could design you a further upgrade that would include the injectors. I've got a lifetime upgrade option w/ my EVO Stage 5, but Madness has to contact Germany...etc etc..... Takes a bit! In case I didn't mention it...NO software is required for the CAI alone!
