Wtb Mini Bluetooth Kit

Hello I am looking to purchase the OEM MINI Bluetooth kit for my MINI and Bluetooth enabled cell phone. Its for a 2003 Cooper. I have seen pics and heard that it doesnt look very factory, but it works very well. The reliability is why I want OEM and not a universal kit. It isnt the kit that goes for the 2005's with the built in phone buttons on the wheel. Instead it has a remote unit that clips on down tube. If anyone has one or knows where I cna get one for less than the dealers $475 please let me know

Thanks

classic mini could help you out. they are a dealer, but the best priced dealer. look in the vendor section for there phone number. it is a dealer only item so that would be the only way to get it. good luck.

Just curious as to why you feel that the OEM kit would be more reliable than any other kit out there.

This is why I choose OEM. I want seamless integration of the components. The microphone is hidden inside the cieling the radio mutes etc. I dont want to have to chop up the wiring harness at my head unit either. And anytime Gabe gives a review and says its good it generally is. Like the Auto Up Windows read about it there bought it and love it, the icelink 1.1 read about it there and love that too. I inquired to Sterling MINI as they give lie 20%-30% discounts now but havent gotten a response from them. Thanks

I'd suggest looking at one of the Sony kits, much cheaper than the MINI kit. Combine it with the harness available from newministuff.com and it does everything that the MINI kit does (except have MINI roadside programmed in) and doesn't require splicing either. You can get the Sony HCB-300 for $125 off e-bay, or for $165.95 from expansys (http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=HCB-300) plus the wiring harness from newministuff and still end up paying less than $300. Both the Sony HCB-30 and HCB-300 have smaller control heads than the MINI kit too.

As for the microphone in the grate, you can do it with any bluetooth kit, but my suggestion is don't put it there. I've heard several people complain that the sound quality is actually very poor back there. Just put it on top of the grate and you should be fine.

Bring it all down to MINIs on The Dragon and you probably could find somebody to install it all for you for a few cans of Coke!

Hey I appericiate your help! Some of the kits I have seen have been very shoody to say the least. So instead of doing any research I just figured hey! I'll go with OEM. But OEM is quite expensive. I will be in DC this weekend as well. I travel down there quite frequently. I will be in my MINI too. I was down the before and spotted at BRG on my way back to the E-way and we waved... Anyhow I will look into the sony unit and newministuff.com for a harness. I am assuming that it should be easy to figure out which one I need on there then? I wanted to attend the Dragon this year, but unfortunatly will not be able too I Have limited Vac time and its tied up with some other things. Next year DEFINATELY! Thanks for your help!

I think I will buy the sony now! Can you post a link to the correct harness I need as well. I have a pending order with New MINI Stuff and would like to add this item right away. Thanks!

Shoot Mike an e-mail over at newministuff, and he'll point you in the right direction. Which specific harness depends on which stereo you have. They'll hook you up.
