Alta air intake without hose for sale, $75 + shipping. This is the original model with black metal screen covering the filter.

Alta CAI

In the holiday spirit of giving, I’ll pay for shipping in the U.S. $75 for the Alta CAI without hose. The black metal filter screen looks at home in the engine bay, not like the out-of-place eraser head appearance of the newer style. The heat shield is without the large metal manufacturers logo that obtrusively adorns the latest model also.

Sorry no pictures to show. Outmotoring and Webb Motorsports have pictures on their web sites of the original filter.

18,000 miles with the Alta. It’s not a moving part, so I don’t know if that is relevant. It has been cleaned regularly and is in very good condition (no dings, punctures, scratches, etc.).

I was no longer thrilled with the extra noise from the Alta.

This looks like a good buy and I don't understand why no one has jumped on it

One man's noise is another man's music - I feel bored driving a non CAI/HAI MCS - this is certainly a great deal

Music!

I have the Alta CAI and Milltek header/catback. The car has treble AND bass! I fill in the midrange with and occasional "yee-haaaaaaaaaaaa!"

Sombody needs to buy this thing! Makes the Cooper S sound like a little jet!

Here’s an offer for partial trade. If you send me a complete rear engine compartment seal (this is the weather stripping you cut for the Alta installation), I will trade for the Alta and altered seal + shipping. If you send a new un-used seal, I’ll do an even swap.

Due to the confused P.M. responses I clarify the options. The rear engine compartment seal mates with the hood when closed; it is one piece that covers both the passenger and driver’s side rear of the engine, close to the cowl. It looks like eye glasses when viewed from the top. The trade and purchase options are:
  • Remove your complete seal and send to me with a money order to cover shipping charges for the Alta (probably not more than $25), and receive the Alta filter, heat shield, mounting hardware and modified rear engine compartment seal.
  • Send a complete new un-used seal and receive the Alta filter, heat shield, mounting hardware and modified rear engine compartment seal. You won’t need to cut yours and there are no shipping charges. It can be purchased and shipped from a vendor such as Classic MINI of Mentor Ohio. They have great prices for NAM members or purchase from the cheapest seller you can find.
  • Send $75 money order via mail and receive the Alta CAI.
