With MINIUSA stating that they will start enabling the Rear Fog Lights. I have gone the design board. Here are my plans....

I want to provide an adapter that will function with the rear fog lights, I have two designs. Both will function the same but they have associated costs.

My goal is to have a part that when the rear fog lights are switched off the upper light will function as a brake light with the lower brake light, and then when you turn on the rear fog lights the upper lights only function as the rear fog lights and the lower light is just the brake light.

Both designs I have can accomplish this functionality. However, one design (the less expensive) would entail cutting the wires for the rear fog light and connecting them to my part. My second design is more expensive but easier and cleaner to install. It would be a plug adapter that plugs into the light and the wiring harness plugs into it. The first design would most likely run for $20-$25 where as the second would be over $50 but most likely less than $100. I prefer the second option and am already in prototype development. I just wanted to get the opinions of user here on the site. I have also applied for the patent rights on both designs. So I do not mind tell everyone what I am up to.

As a past purchaser of the "Gimme a Brake" mod, I like the idea of your second option best too. I'd be really hesitant to cut any wires on my car and would much prefer somthing that can be undone, if the need arose. I'll be interested in seeing what you come up with!

Cool!
I would prefer the second option and would pay more for it. Good luck.

I like the second idea better and would be willing to purchase one if and when it happens

I would go for the second option but how do you control turning it on and off- using a toggle switch on the center console maybe? Then definitely I would go for it.

I'll stick with the basic brake light mod, I rarely even use my front fog lights.

On my way to NH, I discovered that my give-me-a-brake-light mod had ceased working. I was still running the original set of connectors sent by you. Luckily, one of the guys in my caravan had made up some connector pins and we hooked the lights up pronto. So, with this in mind, I'd highly recommend the more expensive adapter you are designing. It would be a clean install, nothing to go wrong and easily reversible if need be. Good luck with the project!!
