Description:

BEWARE of SCAMMERS.

I recently had a listing on Marketplace for 3 new oil filters.
A fellow member was ripped off by some arsehole who had hijacked my thread.

I had 2 other listings that I have ended.  I cannot stand the thought of another member losing their money because of some lowlife using my threads to scam them.

I will not be listing any more items on Marketplace.

Ray.

So I’ll admit it was me that got scammed, sad part Ray and I have done business in the past, actually twice now that I think about it, so I didn’t think twice when I got a text saying it was him. Again my fault because I should have dug through all of our old messages, but it is what it is. I’m not out that much, but a life lesson has been learned, and for the person that scammed me, really hope you needed that 20 bucks that bad.

Ray, now that you posted this, I received the following message about the oil filters from someone other than you. It came before you replied but I caught that it was from someone else and ignored it.

it happens all the time , not your fault, shouldn't keep you from selling nice products, im sure a bunch have benefit from the nice things you've SOLD here throughout the years , its been said over and over , dont send money via zell , venmo , paypal friends and family ,
only use paypal goods&services
and you'll be good .

exactly, if you didn't inquire directly to CRC , and received a PM from someone else, ignore it.

I've been scammed here too.... and also have done business with Ray multiple times. It is largely avoidable if the owners of this forum would simply not allow posting in the Marketplace (or PMs) without significant post count & time passed since original registration. This ***-hat obviously poached another forum member's name (67moris instead of 67morris), so be sure to always double check the spelling and forum history of that person here, watching out for spaces, hidden characters, etc... https://www.northamericanmotoring.co.../members/list/

Apparently $20 USD can go a long way in Bangladesh.

or OR , we COULD just block his i.p....or update the sign up requirements.. but it's easier to just let him keep taking advantage of people. Then the mods can see who it really is , why not put his information out there for us ??? With tech now , he's gonna bark up the wrong tree and **** with the wrong squirrel and he will catch alot more than a nut to the noggin.

I assume you are referring to the FaceBook Marketplace, because the forum you are on right now at NAM, is also called Marketplace...

I would like to share my last experience and I will like to start saying it was completely my fault for not been meticulously and get robbed.

This was the thread I was interested in: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co.../market/372688

I was interested only on door handles and decided to contact seller via PM

Just few hours later, I received a PM from "the seller" with the subject "door handles". I didn't check the forum member name, I have just double clicked and go through.

USD 100 for both door handles and USD 20 for insurance. Both payments sent via ZELLE since "vendor" does not have a pay pal account...

Days later I have notice no messages, no nothing... Later I double check de PM inbox and saw the REAL vendor have contacted me but hours after I have already did contact with the scammer.

My lesson to share:

Use only pay pal, double check how long the forum member is (years), how the vendor interacts with the other forum members. In my case I didn't do anything of it and get robbed.

Hope we can learn from my complete fault and try to keep buying and selling parts and accessories using the NAM community.

I still believe that we are much the good persons than the scammers.

Again: totally preventable, if the owners of this forum cared enough to instill some very rudimentary rules/conditions for PMs, and visibility to the Marketplace. Thousands of our dollars lost to off shore scam houses because the current ownership here refuses to take simple actions to protect its membership.
