So… anyone wanna do a transmission swap? I’ve got R57 manual transmission. Anyone wanna trade me their automatic transmission? Including associated parts shifter assembly, pedals, cables, mounts, probably the ECU too?
I love my wife will all my heart and she just can’t drive a manual. we have a R57 in darn near perfect condition.
My engine/trans is out of car. You need to get a new clutch. Transmission has about 90k miles it had no issues.
straight up swap, this is a huge win for you :-)

NO , you will need a complete Donor car to swap all the wiring harness, computers , modules , ETC . everything to make a manual car automatic, you can take an automatic car and code things out and do a manual swap , but the other way around is a nightmare.

now if the car was auto and you do a manual swap that's possible, but the other way around is NOT ,
BUT if you want to try , knock your self out ,
change the car or change the wife , no way around it .
your not understanding , the complete wiring harness from an automatic car is different from a manual car , you will have to get 2 identical convertibles and strip both cars to the bare metal and swap everything,

I grew up in a world where if you wanted to drive a car you needed to learn to use a clutch and shift gears. Autos were for big luxury cars. However, with my recent R56 I only got 1 out of 4 family members to success in driving it. I had a nice long school parking lot where it was possible to get into 4th and managed to get my wife to run through the gears quite a few times, but as soon as I said "let's head out on to the real road" there was a total freak out and that was the end of that. Two of the kids could get moving with the very slow release of the clutch method but that was never going to cut it in the real world of total impatience. Trying to get a faster clutching going involved constant stalling. But, never give up! Maybe you can get your wife to learn, otherwise I think a second auto R57 is needed in your life so you have a his and hers.
Good luck

I did a auto to manual swap on a R56 probably 5-7 years ago. it's not that bad, but from manual to auto, at least you will need the harness for auto transmission module, and the module itself behind the steering wheel column.
